Wow. Over 25% of the cap on 2 players probably shows at least part of Salfords problems.

Correct.
What makes it even more stupid is that you spend that money on two players that are prize bell-ends off the field. Was never going to end well...
I think with Sheens taking the reins the squad Salford will have next season will have a completely different make-up, cohesion, and direction.

How long was his deal and would anyone take such a massive cut to play Championship RL when you could sit it out at Salford. Some deal has been done, hope it's all kosher and the relevant salary caps adjusted.

Exactly. You don't walk away from hundreds of thousands of pounds for no reason. Salford may be paying him to leave, that's fine on the cap as he won't ever be registered next season so they can pay him off whatever they like to get rid of future years of his deal. They could also pay him next season at a reduced rate while he's with Leigh and again that's fine on the cap as he's not registered to them. No way would he have just walked away from a big deal like that.

I hope so. You would think if anyone can make Koukash see sense it's someone like Sheens. I've had a go at Koukash in the past but that doesn't mean I don't want Salford to thrive. I hope they become a huge club. A big RL club in the Manchester area would be fantastic for the game.

A deal has been done, Salford have allowed Chase to leave for FREE despite him having 2 years left on his contract as well as paying £115k for him. Also, how do you know he is taking a massive pay cut? AB Sundecks Ltd can more than afford those level of wages he was on at Salford.

If Salford are paying him anything while he's at Leigh that would still come out of Salfords salary cap. Otherwise every player would be paid £30k a year until they finish at that club and then get £200k after that.
I'd imagine Salford will be paying him something.
Obviously total guesswork but say he's on what's quoted by JGR.
If Leigh pay him a salary of say £100-120k with Salford paying him still approx £60k then Chase has only lost around £40k. Which if no other SL club is willing to take him is a decent deal for him when his stock has fallen so low compared to where it was.
Leigh are happy, they get a quality player.
Rangi's happy he gets a decent wage in an easier competition.
Salford are happy they get £160k spare on their salary cap for next season.

Championship referees are just sheeite really, and being that feel they have a better chance of living by cavorting the hordes gathering at the touchlines in Darkest Yorkshire. Keep the players apart and get a qptb would solve 99% and better prepare teams for the mid 8's

| Good question.
And when you have registered up to your limit, does the RFL refuse if you try to register another?

I don't 'know' anything, I was asking a question. And AB Sundecks (whoever they are) can pay him what they want, but it would be on the cap, so unless the threat to ignore the cap is correct (hope the RFL are watching closely), he and all the other SL signings will need to be taking a cut (or the remaining squad will be on minimum wage).

It gets a bit tricky for Championship clubs.
SL clubs are allowed 7 Non-Federation Trained players and 5 Overseas Quota players (these run side by side, not an addition to each other).
The Championship clubs are also allowed 7 NFT players but, according to the operational rules, only 1 Overseas Quota player.
For those who don't know, the Overseas Quota is (basically) anyone who isn't an EU national. So, for instance, Roy Asotasi would count on Warrington's Overseas Quota as he (AFAIK) doesn't have an EU passport.
However Pat Richards didn't count on Wigan's Overseas Quota because he had an Irish passport.
It's obviously quite easy to get around for a lot of Aussies who have European heritage. But the Quota is still active.
The Non-Federation Trained quota is anyone who wasn't trained in the RLEF (European Federation) area. So both Roy Asotasi and Pat Richards did count on this list because they were both trained down under and not in Europe. But French players wouldn't count on anyone's quota because they were obviously trained in Europe. The players who were in SL when the rules came in (200icon_cool.gif were exempted from it, but they're few and far between now.
These 2 rules run side by side, so some players could be 1 or both quotas.
For instance at Leeds it would be:
Overseas Quota (5 of max 5) -
Joel Moon
Kylie Leuluai
Paul Aiton
Brett Delaney
Mitch Garbutt
NFT: (6 of max 7)
Joel Moon
Paul Aiton
Brett Delaney
Mitch Achurch
Adam Cuthbertson
Mitch Garbutt
Leuluai isn't on the NFT because he was at Leeds prior to 2008. Cuthbertson and Achurch aren't on the OQ because they have British passports.
So Leigh's worries aren't about the 7 Non-Federation Trained players they can have, it's the 1 Overseas Quota player they're allowed that'll be the problem.

| Which bit of rules changed last season do you not grasp as Bradford and London had more overseas players on quota than the current national leagues allowed at the time so the championship teams were brought inline with it as will the salary cap soon

Harrison's not Tongan. He did spend most of his youth locally though, attending Moorside school in Swinton and coming up through Folly Lane and Wigan academy, so shouldn't count on any quota.

| The use of overseas "exempt" players at the expense of the hard work of training and developing home grown players is still , IMO, a major reason why sport as a whole is declining in this country.
Soccer is an absolute joke, RU is, as is cricket etc etc.
Then people wonder why the country cannot produce international teams that are competitive.

London brought on a prop from Wakey when in SL who was one overseas player too many on the quota and he wasn't allowed to be registered and was released.

| Leigh haven't had to show any discipline in the Championship, they can chuck the ball around & outscore the part timers too easily... but step up a level & their inability to sustain or handle pressure is exposed. All these signings will do is enable them to run up bigger scores with less effort. Still won't help against stronger opposition.

All our international teams are competitve. Winning things? Not all of them do. Rugby union and cricket have, football and rl not in generations. But they are competitive.
