Seriously though what the hell went wrong ? was it a case of Leigh weren't really that good after all and their fans got a little too giddy or we're they and did the players just bottle it ??

Bottled it against Hull KR, narrow defeat to Wakey, smashed by Salford (possibly wanting revenge for cup exit). By this point things were looking bleak, the defeat to Halifax took all the wind out of their sails.

It could have been very different if a) they had played smarter rugby against Hull and b) had a better bounce of the ball against wakefield.

I'm not sure how the drastic drop in central funding will affect them, I guess it depends on whether they had prepared budgets for both scenarios.

They might not have been good enough for SL but I think they are better than what they showed in the Middle 8's. Not the first team in sport to stumble when the weight of expectation is on them to deliver and they won't be the last.

Don't think they ever recovered from throwing away that HT lead vs HKR. If they'd have gotten the win there than I think the next 6 games would've turned out quite differently.

Coach, pure and simple. He's been found out several times before in the Championship playoffs and looks like he has been again in the Qualifiers. Unable to change tactics to suit the situation.

If he'd replaced Hock when he was losing the plot in that opener against HKR then they might have hung on for the win and it might have all been different from then on.

To all you Leigh fans banging on about how big Derek has discovered a way around the salary cap... Expect a slapping! The doc tried all ways possible to get around the cap and it didn't work! Massive head Derek thinks he's something special! I'd love superleague to deny Leigh a place in SL! IF they managed it! Don't forget these player failed and were massively inconsistent whilst at Salford. Is super Paul going to change that!? I think not!

I expect he will enjoy the games against Featherstone.

Why? He hasn't really been a victim of circumstance. It's not as if signing for Leigh was his only option.

Chase will be over 100K, left Cas to a payrise at Salford, won't have taken a paycut to sign for Leigh, same with Hansen. Patterson will be close to 100k, so maybe nearer 400k, that's still 40% of the cap on 4 players.

I'm not sure about that one.
Which SL club do you think could or would offer him a contract? Most have either got two halves, are close to the SL cap or have filled their quota of non-fed players.
And that's without taking into account the risk of bringing in a perceived trouble causer.

Rangi has been touting himself around SL clubs since June. No takers
Hansen has allegedly taken a pay cut to go to Leigh - but that's according to his dad who won't be the least biased of commenters
Patterson (also allegedly) tried to stay at Salford once Leigh weren't promoted
Maitua has said he doesn't want to play SL so dropping back down makes sense

I hope signing Salford's cast off misfits works out for Leigh but not sure going into 2016 with 3 of our most disruptive players who started 2015 with us is going to go much better

It appears Leigh just want to revel in the troublemakers reputation they have.

championship referees are selective about who they issue cards to...they are very influenced by "home" crowds.

I don't do stories......the statistics point to away teams from outside of the heartlands getting less penalties in the championship. London got beaten last week with a 10-2 penalty count against them....10 to frigging 2? One of the 2 we got was for a head high that warranted the bin according to the ref....it was a straight red every day but the definition of "head high" seems to differ from county to county too............and country. Catalans get the short straw in SL.

BTW, Leigh had an appalling record in the disciplinary this year....no matter who they sign or what they spend, if they try to bully their way to the top again they'll come unstuck again!

Chase was on £220k at Salford.

No doubt the new players will improve Leigh but for the 23 matches of the regular season they will be an expensive luxury playing low intensity matches. They may lead to an increase in attendances and other revenue streams. It will be interesting to see if they are able to lift their game in the Qualifiers when they should add value.
