FWIW I do have a lot of sympathy for the Hull fans, not just for the result, but for spoiling the game- Childs is essentially ruining what is meant to be 80 mins of entertainment by craving attention through his pedantry. If Cas had lost I would have been very dissappointed, but as I did after Millenium Magic, I came away from the game thinking "that could have been a free flowing game, but instead it was the Childs show."

I also think that the scuffles that occurred tonight were the result of his lack of control, and frustration brimming over. I'm sure anyone at the game can see tonight that his ineptitude and failure to get any respect from the players probably caused the anger that alot of the players had.

Still, I thought Cas did well to hang in there and get the win, but I do appreciate that the Hull fans are right to be aggrieved.

Not at all, this was not a bad performance from us, the team showed fighting spirit we had not yet seen this season. Agree about Agar though.

And there are many more on the Hull board saying the same. Lots of Hull fans are saying he won Cas the game, saying Cas are crap and that Hull should have wiped the floor with us. Lots of examples from the Hull fans of bad decisions but all seem to be where it went against you. What was the penalty count in the end? I know it totalled 27 but they didn't all go against Hull. As Cas fans, we were disgusted in lots of the decisions that went against us, you could say we were fuming, just as you lot were. Had we lost we would have most probably blamed the ref also. But if we'd claimed we would have wiped the floor with you had it been a different ref, some people might have been able to believe this given the current league table standings, the fact we're playing pretty well and Hull have been crap, that's your own fans words since you're wanting your coach out.

Childs spoilt the game. He's a pedant but doesn't even do this consistently one minute blowing for the strange and then not for the obvious. Surely both sets of fans can agree on that but please have some respect for Cas Hull fans (some of you).

Well... Makes Justin Morgans comments about Ben Thaler a couple of seasons ago seem like a compliment. Wonder if the RFL will reflect that in Mr Agars fine, bearing in mind justin Morgan got done 2k.

£2000 and his comments wasn't 1/2 as bad as Agar's.

I first saw James Child ref back end of last season when Cas played Crusaders,
he penalised Cas out of the game in the first half including something like 6 penalties in 1min for offside (not having both feet behind the try line.)
He needed a police escort at half time and was replaced, the official reason was he was injured (yeah riiight).
Then after the MM debacle i decided not to waste my money paying to watch any game he officiates.( even though Cas have won all 3 games you still come away frustrated)
You all now know how bad he is so next time he refs a game involving your team do what i do and don't go!

Radford did know that, he said after the match that he knew why he had been binned. The issue I had though wasn't with Radford going, it was the inconcistency. If Radford deserved yellow then so did about 10 other players.

As for Fitz, no I don't know what he said, but he didn't go over shouting and balling, he just calmly went over and had a word. And does he seem like the kind of player to swear at a ref? As for the tackle itself I have a very good view and it was without doubt a penalty, and given Isa's previous altercations that I have already mentioned he really should have got 10 minutes. This happened with 5 minutes to go and right on Castlefords line btw, bread and butter kick for Tickle, so we would have got at least a point if the ref had given it.

Anyway, I don't want to sound too bitter because I'm not, so well done Cas, we had chances to win it but your defence was superb, hope you can go on and mix it with the big boys this season.

at last a sensible post from a non FC fan who also saw Childs incompetence for both sides and that he ruined what should have been a great game, it was his lack of contol over the game which resulted in the brawls and the sinbins and longys sending off. he is an insult to our great game.

James Childs, as another poster says in this thread, knows the laws of the game as well as any other ref and better than most. Where he falls down is in how he interprets the laws and more often than not there is no discretion in his decision making. Everything is black and white (forgive the pun) and either a penalty of not with no grey areas.

Championship clubs have known this for several years now but because its the Championships and not Super League his performances have been passed off as losing clubs moaning because they have lost a game. I have noticed him doing touch judge duties in the Super League and missing several incidents committed right in front of him and I'm sure Cummings and Brown at RFLHQ must also have noted them but yet they persist in letting him referee at the highest level.

In his defence though players and coaches have to take their share of trying to gain advantages by "bending" or "trying to bend" the laws and pushing to the very limit of the laws. Some players don't even know the laws of the game that they play and seem perplexed if pulled up for something that people in the crowd know about.

If I understand, from the posts so far, correctly the players and coaches were 100% perfect and the match officials were not.

This is of course tied in to the totally unbiased, "I watch rugby league for the entertainment and not just my club only" view of the people who were there.

What I, and probably lots of other people are trying to work out, is who caused the problem in the first place.

I'll take a wild stab here, and am quite prepared to be shot down in flames over these points, but I reckon the match officials were never offside, never knocked on, never held down an opposition player, never did a head high shot, never tried to strip the ball, never did a forward pass, never tried to hit another player illegally, never time wasted, never tried to con a penalty.

Again , shoot me down in flames over this but I'll take a wild stab that is was the players and, this is the slightly contentious point, will have been probably condoned by the coaches.

However I could be wrong.

Nonsense, if a ref really wanted to they could probably blow up for 50+ penalties in a game. Most refs know that you have a level of leniency in order to let a game flow and only blow up when absolutely necessary. Most fans are happy to see games allowed to flow even if it means not every foul play is called. SOO are so good because the refs take a back seat and let the players decide the game. Child needs to learn this lesson or go back to a lower level.

By All means if he was pants, which it sounds like he was, raise the issue in private, properly. you sound like a right idiot as a coach coming out with something like that, and for a chairperson to do it is even worse. shows a total lack of respect to the game
