No, the players have been told that the club will be liquidated and all contracts will be void. Presumably a measure from Beaumont to try and cover his back and clear debts. He's also no longer paying the players despite saying he would, which is why they could only field 13 on Sunday (and they all played for free).

JESUS WEPT :WALL: HOW MANY TIMES????? £20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000. The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover. There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them. :BEAT::d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_76030.jpg

Quote: snowie "remarkable comments yet while we have turned our selves around you'd like to see us replaced by Toronto'"

"US" as in wakefield I assume?
The real litmus test would have been increasing SL to 14 sides this year, but the loss of £250,000 of the £1,800,000 would cripple clubs like you and Salford because rather than build support, you have your greedy little hands out and will spend on survival (again) rather than growth.
I'd be happy to take a Punt on Toronto or Toulouse instead of Wakefield......if you're such a strong part of the community, you'll survive, but having your hands out for Sky cash and hoping for a "charity built" stadium are just dragging the sport backwards.

I include my club in this as well. London beating Toronto at the weekend will be brilliant as a fan, but a friggin' disaster for SL.

Still, well done Wakefield on surviving again....Leeds being in free fall bailed you and Huddersfield out of a tight spot

I cannot see any alternative to liquidation and a fresh start in League 1, if anyone feels its worth the effort, that is. There are too many lawsuits by former and current players for any potential investor to take the risk. A new club would be comfortably the biggest in that division and (should they be able to attract players given recent player payment issues!) would be strong favourites to go back up, unless there was some sort of points deduction and financial penalty. From there, it would be mid-table mediocrity in the Championship for the foreseeable future and crowds of 1500. Might be just best to pick Leigh Miners or Leigh East and enjoy local lads playing the amateur game, without enduring all the tinpot running of the 'professional' element of the sport!

As for Beaumont, what he has done to the club is unforgiveable.

I feel for you mate and it’s sickening.

I doubt it’ll come to liquidation. Administration maybe - new owner then gets to pay a bit more to the people they want to deal with again and bin off any debts.

Start next season on minus 6 in the championship and possibly a deduction in central funding.

Keeping my fingers crossed. The owners are only ever custodians of the club but it’s the fans that get the sh17 end of the stick. Plus the crappy comments from know all fans of other clubs. As if you have any idea about the accounts of the club.

You’ll be right I’m sure.

well if survival is finishing 5th for the second time in a row then yes I'll except that now for next season, proof is in the pudding having three players in the dream team means we are going in the right direction,

oh and good luck with game at the weekend I'll be rooting for you but you do realise you will be favourites for the drop next season as you have no pedigree and you'll plummet like a stone unlike us who know how to tread water and have mastered the art of survival

as for talking about grounds please do tell us when you tend to stay put icon_biggrin.gif

You may want to look up the difference between liquidation and administration. As a pointer the 'old' Bradford club that disappeared in 2016 was only liquidated in April of this year. Liquidation is very terminal.

Yes I know what the difference is, they aren't going into administration, the plan as it stands is for Beaumont to liquidate the club.

I doubt he is but hardly the actions of a man who is supposed to love the Club. If he did that it's extremely unlikely there will ever be another (pro) Leigh club.

Do you mean he wasn't suffering at Dewsbury, like the rest of us then? I hope someone was there, in an 'official capacity' to represent our club!

Quote: Clearwing "Is a challenge from Bradford or York likely to materialise? Are they recruiting or going with much the same as this year?'"

We've signed Jake Webster which is an unbelievable signing IMO. Also signed a winger from Hunslet who i can't see playing much and Jon Margrin from Sheffield. Rumoured with Brad Dwyer and Sam Hopkins. Suspect a few championship clubs will also ne waiting to see of Toronto earn promotion and pick up some players they release. We're a very young squad so hopefully can grow as a team. A few more young players breaking through too. York i think will go well too next year.

But we have to beat Workington first which is one hell of a tough task.

On Leigh, i hope they sort it, christ knows we know how it feels. Dire situation at the moment though.

Truly appreciate the words of support BM. icon_thumb.gif I've been taking a lot of notice of what Bulls fans are saying, as you've all "been there, done that, got the t-shirt etc!"

We have no idea how dire our situation is. Since the owner's multi-page statement, a few months ago, literally nothing has been said by the club. All we've had from them is the odd squad announcement (nearly always wrong) and match report. (containing further 'inaccuracies') Having been part of a team that built up our communications from virtually zero, to something pretty enviable, a few seasons ago, that, frankly, incenses me! If they are hell-bent on making the situation worse, by alienating a reasonable support base, they are certainly going about that, the right way!

Here's hoping we can renew our 'hostilities' with you guys next season. (ON the pitch, that is, and not in the boardroom! icon_wink.gif )
