Regularly attending "home" games is a habit......the habit needs cultivating and if doing that means cheap tickets, then so be it. The main issue is timescales. I would say that 5 years is the minimum and in all probability, 10 years the requirement to get people into the ritual of "matchday".

The 8 quid tickets for the CC is a cracking idea IMHO. The CC has seen a dramatic fall in attendances and more and more it is becoming apparent that you need to do more than simply stick posts in the ground and announce a kick off time. Hudds got 2,500 or so for round 5 and the Qf's last year....say 40k in revenue with half going to the opposition. Any crowd over 5k and Leeds and Hudds will have increased revenues as well as getting people into the ground....all good!

Lets not forget that from the late 70's to the early 90's Huddersfield as a club were nothing - crowds well below 1000 for most of that time meant that a whole generation of fans were lost, we didnt have Dads/Grandads etc passing on their love of the club to other family members like most other clubs did in this time, we have literally had to build a fan base up from 4-500 people, with no success to people who had no idea there was even a RL club in Huddersfield.

I think we compare pretty well with other clubs who have always had that steady fan base to pass on to others, and if reducing ticket prices gets people interested then why not.

I seem to remember last year quite a few Huddersfield supporters complaining that tickets to the Exiles game were too expensive, when they were in fact pretty reasonable. Therein lies the problem with cheap tickets.

You only have to go back to 2001 to find Huddersfield with an average crowd of 3,554. Their fanbase has increased, more than can be said for such clubs as Bradford and Castleford.

£12 till day before and then £16 on the gate.

To be fair its both clubs that need applauding, these prices wouldnt be available if Leeds hadnt agreed to them too so well done both clubs for seeing sense.

Still no evidence to support giving away free/reduced tickets to increase a clubs fanbase..
10 years or 12 makes no difference at all, when you take into account success and Hudds getting into the top flight it is clearly a natural progression in increased attendances as I stated previously, it has nothing at all to do with making tickets cheaper in any shape or form. The stats are pretty clear on that.
