Quote: SmokeyTA "The only complaints about the play-offs stem from the fact that Leeds keep winning them. If you want Leeds to stop winning in them then there are two things you can do to make whatever system we use irrelevant. Either your teams can beat Leeds throughout the season and leeds wont qualify, or they can beat them in the play-offs. Whatever system we have if Leeds keep winning the important games, they will keep winning trophies and GF appearances.
Wigan had a week off and were at home, Leeds played a bruising game in france the week before, and were away, realistically how much more of an advantage do you want? Leeds to only player with 11men on the field? a 10 point start? no subs?'"
It's got nothing to do with Leeds winning them. It's to do with the team in 5th winning them which shows the regular 27 rounds to be pointless. Who cares where you finish as long as you're in the 8? Each position should have a far bigger advantage than the one below it to keep games competitive all season long and not just at the end. How long before teams start hanging back in the regular season (Wire have done it a few times this year) or more importantly until fans start too?
It isn't sour grapes BTW as everyone knew the rules at the start of the season, but I think for the credibility of the regular season the team in 5th can't win the final again and Leeds fans would say the exact same thing if it was another club who were doing it from 5th (and some do anyway)
