Bailey is a cowardly thug who gets away with things, yet the player who repeatedly punches a man lying face down on the floor is considered a hero who should not be sent off.

Don't be daft, colour has nothing to do with it. Not saying that Radford was anything other than stupid, he maybe should have done as Bailey does and got a sneaky un in as third man in the tackle.

Funny how when all these acts of cowardness/brutality/thuggery are recalled none of them were perpertrated by Bailey, what is the worst thing he's done on the field to warrant his reputation as the biggest thug in the game ?

I do love the the reason he never gets banned in that Leeds have the RFL in their pocket line. If Bailey tackles above the waist the knuckle dragging opposition fans go ballistic shouting high, due to the comotion it gets put on report, result no case to answer. Bailey does a high tackle the opposition fans foaming at the mouth with their hatred screaming off, off. Put on report, penalty sufficient.

It really is hilarious a few elbows, knees and sly digs here and there garner such bile and vitriol. Someone mentioned Paul Davidson earlier, a fairly apt comparison, never received the abuse Bailey does, I wonder why.

yet i bumped into a lancashire based gb international yesterday and asked him about bailey and he laughed. he agreed he was a wind up merchant but said there are plenty of them about. he said also said there were far bigger thugs about and while he didn't particularly like bailey he couldn't see why he gets the stick he does

Because he never gets punished for it is probably why people give him stick.

He's not done anything of major note (i.e. finger someone's anus or grab someone's nuts in the tackle), but he has consistently been a thuggish and cowardly player in pretty much every game he's played in in SL.

People seem to hate Lauaki as well, but what has he ever done as well?

That's news to me.

A few reasons off the top of my head would be that Davidson used to get sent off and banned for his indiscretions (which tended to be more blatant and less sly), he would fight his own battles, people didn't make him out to be the most feared man in rugby league, he didn't get found guilty of shoeing someone in the street and he had a lower profile as he also didn't play for a three time champion team or represent GB.

There is no place for reason and logic on this thread - go hang your head in shame!

Oh, and he was part of the Aryan race - which as we all know is of utmost importance to RL fans.

Another key reason Bailey gets more stick than most other unpleasant players is that Leeds fans go to such lengths to defend his behaviour, whilst nobody bothered defending the likes of Paul Davidson as he was clearly a cretin - in fact his own supporters turned on him at Saints.

I am a bit suprised that people have barely mentioned Bailey's mini-rampage after the event.

His elbows to Radford? Pah so what. Radford reacting by punching Bailey on the ground was not worthy of Radford and warranted the red card he was shown, not a yellow.

But the red-mist that came down on Bailey thereafter and the lunge with the head towards Long (I'd say headbut but then I'd just be being racist) seemed to be to also warrant a red card to me.

Yes, the fact he was severely shiote AND used to give penalties away meant we didn't much like him. In fact, didn't he give the pop side the Vs in response to our boos when he got sin binned in a derby game?

If you're going to red card people for getting angry after getting punched to the head you'll be watching Sevens before long...

What about red carding peopel for getting angry after getting elbowed to the head? ATEOTD Lee Radford, despite been a prop/second rower for 11 years has never been sent off, it must have taken something major for him to lose his cool because I've never seen him lost it before like that.

The fact Barry McDermott (a Leeds employee) suggests that it shouldn't have been a sending off says it all. People who have a clue about the game e.g. the people who have played it don't think he should have been sent off and that a sin-bin for both would have cooled it off but once again we get an incompetent muppett in the middle whose ruined the full game.
