Without the return of P&R, we'd have never seen the investment we have seen and so I doubt we would have been anywhere near being favoured for a licence. No-one seemed interested in shovelling good money after bad when relying on a process that told our club that our new & completed stadium didn't exist in any meaningful sense? A process that rated Celtic Crusaders as better than Widnes & Leigh.

The club can rise and fall on it's own merit now, so the investment has come.

P.S. Wakefield playing out of Dewsbury in SL. That's going to be a car crash.

A tip for next season, don't be quite so cocky

Celtic Crusaders made the NL1 Grand Final in 2008 and under a system of automatic P&R would've been promoted as one of the top 2 Championship clubs as Super League expanded to 14. Even under the current system they would've been strong contenders for promotion, whereas Leigh and Widnes would not.

If your club didn't want to put in the investment to allow them to make SL under the old system then whose fault is that?

They did get promoted one year, got hammered week in and week out and were, I think -apologies if I'm wrong, the only team to be relegated from SL the year after they came up. But that wasn't their fault. It was because they didn't have enough time to recruit after being promoted. They had the same time as other teams that came up but it wasn't enough for poor little Leigh. And the years they didn't get promoted under P&R wasn't their fault either - if was cos of parachute payments. I forget now why they weren't in division 1 every year it existed before SL but I'm pretty sure it wasn't Leigh's fault

Celtic Crusaders had a decent side, but no club infrastructure to speak of and no foundations for success. Their promotion would have given them 1 season in the top flight, a rude shock and probably bankruptcy. They were not ready for the big time. As it was, they were guaranteed 3 years before reality bit properly.

The club actually did have solid infrastructure as evidenced by the number of South Wales club-developed players that are still playing in SL despite the club only being there for one season. What they didn't have was a legit owner and the RFL should've made sure that Samuel wasn't a crook before admitting them to SL. The off-field organization was also a shambles in the first season. It's irrelevant though as we're talking about a system of P&R based solely on on-field success, and Celtic would've been promoted under such a system regardless of any of this. Whether or not you think they deserved a license is immaterial.

No, under the current Super 8's system the qualifying Championship teams would've been Salford, Celtic Crusaders, Halifax and Leigh. I didn't think Leigh finished that high so my mistake there, but Widnes certainly wouldn't have been involved.

They were certainly top of the Championship in the indiscipline chart and with 2 players banned - one for knee use against your side,and then Acton for his action against Halifax - they seem to be leading the indiscipline chart in The Qualifiers.

Wakey have worked to the system in place. Not right but it was there to be manipulated. An earlier transfer dead-line date should have put a stop to it. It was obvious what they were doing when ex-coach Webster wrote 20 SL games off as friendles.

Let's not forget that for the bleating and moaning that Eddie Hemmings and Paul Rowley did, Wakefield have been playing a 17 that includes 13 players who've been at Trinity all season.

No one seems to want to mention Hock, Higham etc signing for Leigh

A great player who has just made a complete and utter fool of himself. He's worse than Schofield.

I think there are a few flaws to be ironed out in the new structure but to suggest it's designed to stop Leigh or any other club achieving promotion is ludicrous. Everyone knew the rules at the start, some have exploited them better than others.

Murphy seems to have virtually thrown the towel in, I hope the rest of the club doesn't follow suit.

As for Celtic, they got into the Play-Off final and a promotion place by illegally signing and paying a dozen Australians. So any "achievements" they made are invalid.

What a load of embarrassing tosh; he's taken the Eddie/Rowley cry-fest from Boots N All and added layers of nonsense - doesn't really do Leigh any favours either, in that it creates the impression that they're already out for the count.

It seems the board had the same attitude as some of their more noisy supporters. Having told all and sundry how they would win it on the field and how good it was that they were now able to win promotion on the field and prove themselves amongst the elite they have found its easier said than done and there's a fair few dummies leaving mouths.

Couldn't not make themselves look more like a little boy wearing his daddies shoes and thinking it makes him the man if they tried.
