| This is truly a dark day for European rugby league when a club that has less than 3,000 fans, based in an obscure location outside Manchester, can defeat a renowned, popular powerhouse like Wigan.
I have no doubt that the absence of Wigan's indefatigable French international prop Romain Navarette affected the result. The absence of experienced centre Daniel Sarginson might also have been relevant.
On the other hand without the NRL experienced Antipodean imports Jackson Hastings, Tuimoala Lolohea, Krisnan Inu and Kenneth Sio, the Salford Red Devils would have been languishing in last place in Super League, and would have been ripe for relegation.

It's a great day for European Rugby League!!!
Seeing the underdog go so well in sport is amazing to see. Everyone remembers an underdog story and it will probably now get more coverage world wide.
You could of put Navarette and Sarginson on the field and Wigan would of had no chance. Salford are well drilled, well coached and stick to the game plan every week.
I'm sure they will give Saints more of s game next week than what Wigan did last week.
Let's go Salford!!!

| God my head hurts this morning but Christ is it worth it!!!
Thanks to all those well-wishers on here, us "irrelevant" Salford fans are well and truly living the dream. Never seen so many middle aged men in tears last night (yup including me! ) which kind of sums up the magnitude of what Watto has achieved with this bunch of championship plodders.
I finally have another memory to put in the bank along with the 96 CC win over Wigan.
I love this team and it's heartbreaking to think next week will be the last time us fans see half of them in a Salford shirt. Every one of them is a true legend of the club tho and they'll get one hell of a reception every time they return to the AJ Bell.

I started watching Salford in.........
....... 1989. Nailed it.
And yeah most of it has been dire but you don't choose your team, it chooses you and we stock with it through thick and thin.

| Congratulations to Salford.
Fully deserved victory and if they can go again next week, who knows what will happen.
Saints, just like Wigan, will start as firm favourites but, they will be very, very, wary about what is likely to hit them.
Win or lose, Watson should definitely receive "coach of the season" and should they actually lift the SL trophy next week, the game will have been shake up big time by one of the sports less fashionable clubs.
