Quote: headhunter "No, the players have been told that the club will be liquidated and all contracts will be void. Presumably a measure from Beaumont to try and cover his back and clear debts. He's also no longer paying the players despite saying he would, which is why they could only field 13 on Sunday (and they all played for free).'"
I cannot see any alternative to liquidation and a fresh start in League 1, if anyone feels its worth the effort, that is. There are too many lawsuits by former and current players for any potential investor to take the risk. A new club would be comfortably the biggest in that division and (should they be able to attract players given recent player payment issues!) would be strong favourites to go back up, unless there was some sort of points deduction and financial penalty. From there, it would be mid-table mediocrity in the Championship for the foreseeable future and crowds of 1500. Might be just best to pick Leigh Miners or Leigh East and enjoy local lads playing the amateur game, without enduring all the tinpot running of the 'professional' element of the sport!
As for Beaumont, what he has done to the club is unforgiveable.
