In the years after WW2 challenge cup first round ties were two legged as were premiership semi finals in the late 1970s / early 80s.

Wigan did get to the semi final in the season inbetween but it was a one-off game, presumably because of fixture congestion after the big freeze earlier in the 78/79 season.

Instead of two legs why not have a 27 game season to decide the champions?

Maybe this is the way forward for the WCC. The English club goes overseas at the end of the season. The NRL club comes here at the usual time.

The problem as I see it with two legged affairs is how the conditions can affect a game and make equally good wins less significant. For example I'd say beating someone 20-10 in a mud bath surrounded by gale force rain is a better result than 11-0 in glorious conditions

At least in a one off game, particularly at a neutral ground, is that all the conditions are equal for all in the entire situation
