Nice try but you completly ignore the fact that ALL clubs were getting dire attendances back then. The sport was in a proper slump everywhere really except on Humberside.
And 2,000? Miles away from the truth! Facts: Wigan's home average in Division 2 (1980-81) was actually 4,693. Warrington's that same year in Division 1 was 4,917 & St Helens 4,934. Bare in mind that the local derbies we faced in Division 2 were just Swinton (home average 1,953), Rochdale (home average 1,149), Blackpool (home average 684) and Huyton (home average 270), where as in Division 1 your local ish derbies included St Helens, Widnes, Leigh, Salford and Oldham - I don't think we did too bad attendance wise, did we?
And any Warrington fan who suggests that facing you is bigger than facing St Helens for us really is talking garbage. You must be on a different planet!
