A few good points, yes - particularly as regards Monaghan copping it on the chin first-up, rather than telling a bunch of lame lies first-up then coming clean when cornered.

But the piece also left a few things - important things - unsaid or dealt with too briefly.

Firstly, the basis for the AFL seeking a suppression order was, so I believe, that the person publishing the pics had no IP rights to them. Arguably, had acquired the pics unlawfully. AFAIK, the same cannot be said in re the Monaghan pic.

Secondly, the piece has almost written the dick-owner in question out of the story. Riewoldt has had a dopy, embarrassing pic made by and for mates published by a person who arguably had no right to do so, yet the article focuses on the allegedly house behaviour towards a young woman of a group of Saints players that did not include Riewoldt, if press quotes of the young woman are to be believed.

For a moment, consider if neither act were photographed.

Handling one's schlong in private = who cares, in terms of legality and public opinion.

Shoving one's schlong in Rover's gob = potential bestiality charge depending on state laws, plus a family-sized helping of the Eeeeeeeeeeeew Factor in terms of public opinion.

Both incidents are pretty unsavoury (not the naked photo, what guys get up to in the privacy of their home is not of interest to me but getting a 16 year old girl pregnant then slating her isn;t high on my moral barometer). AFL have a history of media control whilst NRL falls on its sword time and again. Morally NRL has the upper hand but public perception is that NRL players are grubbier so maybe washing dirty laundry in public isn't the best PR move for a code?
