It all starts from 9.30am with the Scorpions Primary Schools Cup Finals Day. Twelve schools from over South Wales battle for a place in the Final that kicks off at 2pm. The schools have all qualified to play at The Gnoll after being winners of their regional competitions that have taken place throughout South Wales this spring. Over 1,000 children will have taken part this year. Who will be the champions?
At midday, it’s Wales Dragonhearts v Ireland Wolfhounds. This is the first game of the 2010 Home Nations between the A sides from each country, containing the best of the players from the local leagues and other community rugby league players. Wales have been winners of the Home Nations seven times in the last eight years but Ireland is normally their toughest fixture. This tournament has produced a number of Super League players since its inception in 2002.
At 3pm, South Wales Scorpions take on Swinton Lions in a Co-operative Championship 1 encounter. The Scorpions have had an outstanding start to life winning five of their first ten games and earning four losing bonus points. It means they are in the top half of the league but will find it tough against a Swinton side who beat them by a very close 20-14 score-line earlier this season.
Finally, at 5.15pm, fans can retire to the bar in front of one of the big screens at The Gnoll to watch Crusaders v Bradford Bulls live from Wrexham. This fixture has produced some classic encounters including Crusaders’ first ever win in Super League last year plus a 19-0 victory at Murrayfield at the start of May this year.
In addition to the rugby, hot and cold food and drink will be available in the bars, from the outside stalls or via the legendary Calves Corner.
Super Sunday tickets can be bought at
