I know there is a separate forum for the Forces but it's so low down no-one goes there!

Anyway Maundy Thursday is Leeds v Bradford as usual but as a curtain-raiser there is the annual Trafalgar Cup game between the Royal Marines and the Parachute Regiment. I believe Danny McGuires's younger brother is/was a Para so a bit of local interest there.

KO is tbc but probably about 5.30pm. The match officials are all from the Services as well so a proper Forces Day Out. Get there early for the most intense Services rugby league below the Inter-Services.

Give it a rest. The Paras and the Marines have been regularly spanked year on year by the RE, REME, AMS to name a few. It’s like saying the Varsity game is the most intense match outside of super league.

Play up the military rivalry but not the rugby league quality please.

I must have missed the bit where he said the rugby league on offer was of the highest quality.

What he said was: "most intense Services rugby league below the Inter-Services", which seems a fair enough comment. You don't need NRL-level skills for a game to be extremely intense and passionate.

Why people insist on knocking RL events I will never know.
