Yes thought today was a good professional performance. We ended up doing the basics well against what was a poor Dewsbury team and ended up with the 2pts.

The most pleasing thing for me was the goal line defence and the teams commitment to not conceding any more points. Must have held them up on or over the line a good half dozen times.

It seems you can play expensive rugby on the Odsal pitch despite its dimensions. We’ll done Mr Dunning, it seems the players are responding to his methods, even though it was lowly Dewsbury.

I thought the referee yesterday was very very poor. He failed to police offside at the play the ball all the game. He gave a knock on three times when ball was stolen the when Flanagan lost the ball in a tackle he gave us a penalty. His pedantic decision to penalise us for offside at a drop out is fair enough if he is going to police this all the game. Dewsbury were offside regularly at kick offs but no penalty. No consistency which just winds up players and fans alike.

Highlight - Flanagan putting the ref on report for slapping him round the head whilst signalling a penalty
Lowlight - The ten mins after the 20 minute mark when we reverted to Kear's one up shenanigans.

Overall rating - solid performance. Walker and Crossley have much better games in attack but they still hold the defensive line back and I don't know what Chester Butler had for brekkie but they should all have it. He was immense. Him and Wallace are making a great pair.

Thought the halves played well too. Patton’s 40/20 for me showed a good intent and the grubbers to the in goal worked a lot better than the usual kick to Gill.

Obviously Bongser will now have to suspend his usual good will towards you until next week but Barrow have a toughie at York on Sunday too and, in his spare time Bongser will be rooting for THAT home side.
