| With the recent news that Nobby is leaving the Wolfpack to "take up new challenges within the game of Rugby League "and with the Bulls recently announcing that they hope to appoint a new Chief Executive within the near future, could the two things be connected or his he nailed on for the new Ottawa club.??

| Nobby seems to be following the money until it either runs out or the rules stop him from spending it.
Not really sure what he could bring to our club at the minute.

| He's been responsible for player recruitment for a team that have gone into the season with a 23 man squad having spent up to the cap
Is he really what this club needs, given recent history?

| Not for me.
I can't believe he allowed a large chunk of the salary cap to be spent on two players. I bet Macca argued that they should have spent that money on a hand full of seasoned SL players.
It was just a matter of time before Nobby was asked to leave.
I have always stated that when he was with us in our pomp I had heard players saying it was Steve Mac who did the hard work on the coaching ground.
I have nothing against Nobby but he has spent money and he walked when he saw what was coming with us and possibly now with Toronto - then spent big at Wigan and now at Toronto.
I will be surprised if he gets another top job but he may now be happy with a local job that keeps him ticking over that helps top up his pension. If in the future we need a man higher up I would let Kear move up and bring in a younger coach.
Nobby has had his day for me.

Agree with all of the above and although this might sound a bit harsh I would go as far as to say he,s been lucky throughout his career to find himself been in the right place at the right time.

Too true he has been lucky, he inherited a great Bulls team that even I could have coached. After leaving the Bulls he has done nothing except spend big money then cut and run, which he actually did when he left us ( a certain Harris comes to mind). Hopefully because we have no money he won't come near us thankfully.

| Great to see bucketfuls of respect for someone who brought us so much success.
I don’t disagree that he wouldn’t be the right person to come in now, but why attack his record?
Bizarre argument that McNamara was the one who really coached the team (which has been doing the rounds for years). Cos McNamara did a great job when he took over. Look at the team he inherited and the signings he made before we went downhill and tell me he couldn’t have done better.

For what it's worth I think Nobby's record was exceptional and really shouldn't be downplayed, but don't think it's unusual for a second coach to take charge of the general coaching sessions and for the head coach to oversee what was going on. With no reserve side and the dedicated youth coaches we had at the time it would have left the no.2 with little to do if he hadn't.
As for Macca, he was the one who took over when the money had run out, so it's difficult to quantify his effectiveness, to be fair. I always felt he did well under the circumstances. especially given the expectations of far too many fans who couldn't see which way the (financial) cookie was already crumbling.

| Can't really believe what I'm reading on this thread, Nobby or should we call him Saint Nobby would be a brilliant CEO - sponsors would follow, and our media profile would rocket and if ever there was a Bradfordian we could all get behind to lead the club back to Bradford, then surely its him!
If there's even the merest whiff of this being possible, because he's not looking for a big paying job we should thank our lucky stars.
P.S Tenders going out on the quiet to refurbish parts of Odsal such as toilets etc.

| I think heart is ruling head here.
The basis of him becoming our CEO is based around glory day when he was our coach. Two totally different jobs! And, of course, two totally different eras.
I wouldn't diss on his coaching at all - but its irrelevant at this stage. I base my judgment on him as a potential CEO on the one CEO job that he's had - with Toronto Wolfpack. And his record there is to spend a boatload of someone else's money to batter everybody at Championship and Leave 1 level, and then arrive into SL with complete lack of planning and foresight, having spent all the cap money on too few players. As a result, Toronto are in with a fair chance of getting relegated - simply due to his inability to plan ahead and spend the right amount of money on the right players.
Does that sound like someone qualified to run our club right now? To me, it sounds like absolutely the last thing we need!

A silly and scurilous remark. From someone who doesn't know the circumstances, neither do I totally but I wouldn't make a comment like that

Another one who doesn't know the circumstances. He was Director of Rugby not CEO. If you had read his book you would have recognised his potential to be a CEO of a Club, or at least had the opportunity. And yes I've known Brian for 30 years and he is a frend before you ask?

You say he was responsible for employing Players, not true very few coaches gan employ a player without full board approval. A coach asks for a Player he wants, and the Board then decides if the Club can afford that Player. Get your facts before commenting.
