The million dollar question if Gaskell,obrien and mullally keep playing like they are will super league clubs come sniffing round

I don't see any chance of anyone being poached this season, they are all in it to win it, if we don't do the business then that will all change because I doubt our better players would be keen on any more seasons out of SL if they have SL options. I also can't see us agreeing to any sale, barring "Newlove" situations, so I shouldn't worry. Also don't forget that all three of those have played many SL games and so everyone has seen them in SL. They may take the view that it's one thing to stand out in the Championship, but another to step back up.

I don't see anyone leaving during the season, but if we don't get promoted then its an entirely different matter.

I agree with FA's analysis. If we manage to go up we should be able to hold on to the players we want to keep. If we don't then I can see them wanting to move on if a SL club comes in for them.

I am still genuinely astonished that Gaskell is with us this year.

During his time with Salford and before Jimmy took over Gaskell looked very ordinary. He was switched to full back at one point and didn't convince. Only since Lowes took over has he looked genuine quality.

Agree, in fact I think a season in the Championship will do him good. He's still relatively unproven at SL level even if he did look good toward the end of last season.

With some of the averageness personified currently plying their trade at HB, including the current hugely overrated England scrum half, I too am amazed Gaskell is in the Championship. He was average at Salford but showed more than enough at Saints previously to show he had class. He is more in the classic stand off mould, like Kevin Brown, than the current craze of 6 & 7 being indistinguishable.

I'd imagine several of our top players will have a SL release clause to become active at the end of the season should we not secure promotion.

I reckon there will be a number of SL release clauses at any time or non promotion release clause. I really hope not though.

We are talking about "if we don't go up". We have a number of players on a one year deal. SL clubs start signing players from the summer onwards. We may find ourselves starting the playoffs with a hand full of players already signed for a SL club but without it being known.
My fear is that we may lose GOB, Gaskell, Sidlow, Lauaki, Addey and a many more if they all do really well this year and shine. After all, Green has consistently said we have a SL squad here. If you tell everyone you have quality goods then people will look in the shop window.
It is simple to me. We must go up this year and Green and Jimmy have to keep talking to our top players and persuade them not to be tempted by other clubs in July if they come calling - or at least do a deal to leave if we don't get promoted but stay if we do.
