| rlVery sad newsrl
I don't remember his first spell with the club, but he was still pretty good when he came back in the mid-70's, when he must have been closer to 40 than 30.

| He signed pretty soon after the re-formation in 1964, IIRC. He was a cracking second row, always wearing no. 12, and a top goalkicker. One of the better players at a time when the club was really just re-building. For some reason I'm strugglling to remember too much about him coming back in the seventies, though I'm sure you're correct as it rings a bell somewhere.
Long before the majority of today's fans were watching I'm sure, but a Northern Great, without doubt. RIP Terry and condolences to his family.

Beer is the root of all my problems, ironically it solves them too Homer
Simpson that is: |
|
| IIRC we signed him from Featherstone about the same time we signed another Fev forward Terry Ramshaw. Clawson was all footballing ability whereas Ramshaw was all raw aggression, a great pair they complemented each other. Later in his career he moved to prop although not a big guy for a prop he was extremely effective because of his workrate and handling skills.
A true Northern Legend RIP Terry.

| I watched him play, and throughout his career he was a credit to the game, and a World Cup winner to boot.
This may be a good spot to recommend his book "All The Wrong Moves", briefly reviewed rlhererl, which is a good read if you can beg borrow or steal a copy, especially compared to the majority of RL bios.
Some fine memories.

| A great player for Bradford Northern scoring many goals/tries.He was an excellent goal kicker and superb ball handler. He didn't take many backward steps either.Yes he signed not that long after reformation and was one of the main players who got Northern back up the ladder.A sad loss.
RIP Terry Clawson,a true NORTHERN great.

| I saw TC play many games for Northern during the sixties, though I was living abroad when he returned. Two incidents involving Terry have always stuck in mind, both relating to penalty kicks. The first was a successful penalty conversion from just inside his own half, kicking with the toe and without a tee of course, while the second I’d not seen before or since, and probably is/was illegal, though the referee allowed it at the time.
If memory serves, it came in a 14-2 home win against York, during which I was working the old scoreboard at the tip end. Northern, playing towards that end, were awarded a penalty approximately 35 yards out and 10 yards in from touch on the big stand side.
Having indicated a kick at goal, placing, lining up and retreating from the ball, Terry suddenly changed his body stance and kicked the ball into touch on the bounce- the referee bizarrely ordering a scrum. I seem to remember Alan Kellett sending Alan Clarkson in for one of Northern’s two tries- could be mistaken.
It’s sad to hear of another hero from the sixties/seventies era passing on, condolences to Terry’s family; he leaves many of us with some happy memories.

| I'm surprised and a bit disappointed that no-one at the club recognised Terry's passing and we didn't have the very appropriate minutes' silence yesterday and I can't understand why.
