| Coming into this season i for one was full of hope that Potter could improve the decline we suffered under the Mcnamara era. Given the changes in personal we were never going to compete for honours or make the top 4 but i don't it was unreasonable to expect to make the play-offs?
As the season has progressed i believe Mr Potter has made some strange decisions with his team selections and these decisons have led to a another total disaster year.
1. The whole Briggs debacle. Why the hell Briggs was dropped after starting to develop a good relationship at half with Jeffries is baffling, they were actually creating things! Then Potter ships him out on loan to Quins!
2. Herbert. a poor signing from the start, and favoured throughout at the expense of the above.
3. Royston. For some reason has been given limited opportunities. I agree that Kearney is the better Full-Back but for me Royston should have played at Centre instead of the disaster that is Paul Sykes!
4. For some reason the team do not seem to be motivated under Potter. Maybe he lacks man management skills? but they certainly dont seem to want to bust a gut for the coach.
I will concede we have had some bad injuries throughout the season, and losing L Estrange and then Diskin just about finished us off.
Lets see if he can turn things round next year, the players coming in are definately an improvement if Potter can make then gel?
Thoughts?

| With you on everything other than Sykes. He has been made a scapegoat this year but in the past few appearances has shown himself to be one of only a few that have given their all. He was my MOM v Huddersfield and showed willing to try and stop the Wigan onslaught last night when everyone other than Raynor appeared to just accept what was going on.
It's been said elsewhere that a losing mentality has engulfed the club in recent years. Potter will ultimatley be judged on whether he turns that around, and not the odd mistakes he makes on the road to doing so.

| Hard to criticise the Herbert signing. We were dropped in it big style by Orford. Herbert was the best, if not the only, option available at the time on such short notice. Obviously the club were unsure as to how much of a success he would be, hence the one year deal.
It hasn't worked out and he's now moving on. I can't blame the club one bit for his signing. We should have had Orford at scrum half this year so what happened was not the fault of the Bulls. I would have been worried if they had extended his contract though.
As for not playing Briggs, that's another issue but I trust Potters judgement on this. I hope we can retain him and iron out whatever issues Potter see's in his game. He could be good.

Agree with all of the above. Potter didn't sign Hebert though, that was done without his input. I am unsure why he has continued to play him though and ship out Briggs, who in my opinion was looking promising. Point 4 is the most concerning.....

Agree to an extent although a lot of the deadwood were signed by Potter himself. These players who had 'something to prove'. Well most of them certainly proved something.

| Potter also sanctioned giving a three year contract to Paul Sykes
Was confirmed by Peter Hood at the Fans Forum.
So if it turns out that we can't offload him, as has been widely assumed, then we'll be stuck with him - and it will be Potter's fault

| Meh.
I think the Sykes signing has something to do with the need for home grown players and he's able to play in a few positions (to what standard is open to debate). I didn't think he played particularly well last night but, then again, who did?
Briggs seemed to be a bit off the pace and I think sending him to London was good move in principle, especially if he was guaranteed game time. One for the future and maybe with Herbert injured and our season over he'll get to play the last few games.
Herbert... we needed a half. I think it's as simple as that. We were all crying out for a specialist rather than playing someone out of position and unfortunately there were few, if any, available.
Royston - agree to a certain extent. I think he and BK had the start of a decent partnership going when they were interchanging between FB and SO (though I may be the only one who does!) I'm also not 100% convinced that BK is a better FB - to be fair we never really saw Royston play their for any length of time so it's hard to compare.
Motivation - like I said. Meh.
