| The interesting thing that jumped out at me was the crowd
Local derby, championship at stake and less than 8K at Headingley

Looking through the programe Paul it would seem that 7,800 was a good crowd for that season.
It has the Leeds average crowd for 1980/1981 at 5,934 (10,252 being their highest gate being vs Hull FC on the opening day of the season).
For Bradford Northern, our average crowd was 6,105 with the biggest being the last home game of the season vs Hull FC (9,565).
It would look like even in those days Hull FC had a pretty good away following.
It all makes interesting reading.

| A real blast from the past... First two Bradford games that I ever attended.
Leigh blew it that season losing their last match 11 - 8 to whom I forget to let Northern in... I think !

| Didn't Leigh lose to Warrington on the last day of the season as we were beating Hull at Odsal with Dennis Trotter scoring a hattrick and a 16 year old Lee Crooks playing.
I seem to recall most of the crowd that day watching the game with one ear on the "wireless"!!

Was my old coach Tony 'Tiger' Handforth playing? There used to be a photo in the pub of him, Graham Idle and Jimmy Thompson(?) holding the trophy

Leigh lost 12-11 to Salford at the Willows on the Sunday meaning that we had won the Championship for the second year.

Leigh beat Warrington 11-4 at Hilton Park in front of 7,475 in their final game my book tells me.
Drummond with the sole try of the game, Woods with 4/6.
Re: Bradford Northern 38-18 Hull FC
Dennis Trotter did score three with Derek Parker and David Redfearn also getting two tries each.
Keith Mumby also scored a try and kicked 7 goals.
Lee Crooks was playing.
Good memory

The Warry game finished just as we were passing the ball along the line from a scrum. When the crowd started celebrating the players threw the ball away and started hugging each other. A great moment. And the Hull fans were extremely generous.
