Key point is how much did we need the £120k we got for Sam, given that he would have left a year later on a free and it probably meant we were able to sign Orford.
undoubtedly we'd have a stronger pack with Sam but I feel the improvement in the halves was more important in the long term.

And if he wanted to leave he would hardly be putting world class performances in every week.


I wouldn't be too certain on that 120k figure either, the Aussie press will be likely to make it seem they didn't pay as much for him.

suspect thats probably true as 200k was bandied about at time and $200k just happens to be £120k. Still a decent amount for a player with just a year left on his deal.
