| All in all, a satisfactory performance.
Starting with the best bit, what a revelation Kearney was running out of defence from fullback. Easily worth the admission money alone to watch him.
Silverwood let Quins peg down our attackers for about 15 minutes at a time all night, and, well, let's just say that he won't keep this DVD as his finest hour, and we were usually on the wrong end of some shall I say highly dubious calls. Plus, they want to sort out this "tackle into touch" nonsense. I know what they say they're trying to avoid, but on good all-in-one motion tackle and push across the touchline was given as a pen against us, yet it just never was. If you can't do that, then you can't do anything.
Also, having just the other week had 2 men comprehensively tackled in the air, yet ignored by the officials, here we saw Sheriffe penalised for what was, if anything, the merest of brushes against an opponent. Risible.
However, despite the low score, there was some really scintillating attacking play at times when the Bulls cut loose, and the defence was, again, excellent. But that man Kearney really was superb, the Quins had no answer to him. And Langley was back to his imperious current form.
Hope Lynch is OK, he looked to have a nasty left knee injury.

| Not a classic or vintage performance by any means possible but a efficient workmanlike effort, in a lackluster and frustrating game at times, but the points are in the bag.
Just how great was the Menzies try following the Orford/Kearney double act. A joy to watch.
Brett Kearney a well deserved man of the match, with Menzies, Kearney and Orford controlling the game, especially the second half.
The attendance was a poor 7153 on freezing wet night.
Will update when I get in, just waiting for a bus in the interchange to take me home.

| Can't say that I enjoyed the game that much but just kept telling myself 2 points is all that matters.
We did the job required and hopefully it won't have taken too much out of the tank for the easter games.
Both teams dropped the ball plenty which stifled the game a bit. You could see glimpses of some good moves but more often than not they led to nothing.
I'm just happy with this for tonight:
8 Bradford 8 4 0 4 121 167 8
9 Leeds 8 3 0 5 180 139 6
Although I can't help but think that in typical Leeds style they'll get their season back on track by beating their old rivals (hoping it doesn't happen though!).
How long exactly is it since we've been above them in the table? I'm thinking McNamara's first season in charge but can't be sure.
Oh and one thing that really gets on my nerves these days which happened again tonight: why when a player tackles someone and keeps him moving and then more players join in and push him into touch does it always seem to result in a penalty? The momentum of pushing the player towards the touchline never stopped!

That happened right in front of us. And I went ballistic at Silverwood. I think I went well beyond the usual "muppet" and "wassock" though "bloody sodding toerag" and beyond.
Except the couple of older-timers behind me then pointed out something I had seemingly missed, which was that apparently at least one of our players had dragged the guy over the line (I'll take their word for it cos it didn't register at the time). And their understanding was that it was the dragging that led to the penalty cos that's what Rot Hall are trying to stamp out. In which case, on that occasion (although I doubt that many others) I may have used some inappropriate adjectivetry on the official...

I just posted something very similar in the other thread started by Gledhill before I'd read this. Glad it gets on someone elses nerves too!
Kearney did some great broken field running tonight, think we may see him play there again in the near future.
One major improvement for me (although I didn't see the Hull game last week) was the kicking game. We seemed to turn the full back/winger around a lot and kept Quins pegged back in there own half for long periods.
I'm hoping there was a bit of "saving themselves for next week" in tonights performance.

| A very lackluster game and we didn't play that well tonight but Kearney was outstanding out of full back and when we played rugby we created some good openings. Was Halley dropped or injured.

| I thought that was probably our second worst performance of the season and only Keraney came out with any credit. He was outstanding and perhaps the change in the halves caused us some disruption.
Big rap for Sherrife though I heard he's made more yards than any other player in super league so far this season!!!
Running sidewards!

| I found it an intensely frustrating game to be honest.
How did we have so much possession and time in their half, yet score so rarely?
How did they spill the ball so many times yet we did not make them pay for it?
How DID Silverwood come up with some of those calls? What was the penalty count against us?
How CAN we get pinged for allegedly tackling in the air (in front of us, and looked a marginal call at best) after what has been allowed to happen against us recently?
What was that last disallowed try a double movement? (presume that was what is was disallowed for?)
We scraped a win at home against probably the worst side in the competition, so we keep hearing them described as.
In fact, that was a pretty enthusiastic performance by Quins, something I think their coach can take much heart from.
As for us...well surely most of us would like to see Kearney at 1 all the time after that cracking showing? Probably a deserved MOM although Beaver seemed to have a hand in everything. Some strong defending again, not least running them down just short of our line after that length of field break. Kicking seemed a lot better. Platty did fine again (one bad boo boo excepted) although Sheriffe had one of his less good ones tonight. And some of the attacking play and passing was sublime - just such a shame we seemed to lack finishers to power over the line.
I'll take the two points, and us being above Leeds for the first time in a very very long time in the table. But we surely need to find ways of getting over that line a lot more often?
Hope Lynch is OK - did not look too clever hobbling off, but the trainer was bending his knee a lot so hope its nothing that serious. Last thing we want is ligaments gone.

We ceased to have the money to pay for their likes. In the case of Les, we never really had it in the first place.

| Not the most thrilling of games, and yet another that we almost managed to throw away. We played all the rugby in the first 30 mins yet still managed to be behind. In fact we played pretty decent rugby for much of it, making our inability to score all the more infuriating.
But Kearney was excellent.
Silverwood? - someone please explain some of those calls to me. Truly baffling.
And agree with others on here - tackling players into touch being illegal is just stupid. So no reward for good defence anymore? Ridiculous.
