I remember us having 7,600 back in 2007 or it could have been 2008 but yes in the Halcyon days we had double what we have now, but come the start of the season I expect us to maybe be at around the 6,000 mark.

It's down to the last three years which have seen the team deteriorate beyond belief that has been one of a number of catalysts for the depressing season ticket sales.

People just aren't interested in watching the Bulls anymore, many of the people I work with at the hospital have not renewed for the 2010 season and they all give the same reason in that they won't pay good money to watch trash.

The same keeps being said to me over and over

[iI have not and will not buy another season ticket as long as McNamara remains at Odsal, I have no faith in him whatosever. [/i

What you will have at Odsal this season is a 7,000 hardcore average that will turn out come rain or shine, maybe when St Helens or Wigan visit we may just break the 10,000 barrier, but that would depend on how we are playing and more importantly how we start this season.

The only thing we can hope for is that we are up in the in the playoffs all season long, because if we don't then the crowds will only get worse.

You only need to look at our average crowds during Super League to see what we are capable of,

1996 --------- 10,346
1997 --------- 15,159
1998 --------- 13,022
1999 --------- 13,212 (Leeds Rhinos 24,020 September 3 1999)
2000 --------- 14,520
2001 --------- 12,204 (St Helens 16,572 March 4, 2001)
2002 --------- 11,524 (St Helens 14,271 April 20, 2002)
2003 --------- 14,939 (Leeds Rhinos 21,784 May 23, 2005)
2004 --------- 13,495 (Leeds Rhinos 23,375 June 5, 2004)
2005 --------- 12,786 (Leeds Rhinos 22,843 March 24, 2005)
2006 --------- 11,263 (Leeds Rhinos 16,663 May 26 2006)
2007 --------- 12,083 (Leeds Rhinos 18,195 September 2, 2007)
2008 --------- 10,287 (Leeds Rhinos 14,014 May 23, 200icon_cool.gif
2009 --------- 9,676 (Leeds Rhinos 14,554 April 10, 2009)

We have gone from 14,939 in 2003 when we moved back up to Odsal to just 9,676 in the space of just six years.

So Recession doesn't play a part at all. I admit, the quality of rugby being played is the biggest factor, but not the only.

I'm sure that Orford will have secured a few more for us though.

I know what you are saying that in the current climate, with the maintenance of the ground a huge financial drain and the accompanying factors of the state that Bradford is in as a City, I think to turn out the figures that we have done recently without a wealthy benefactor, is worthy of our praise even if I do agree that there remain concerns about the board and the team management.
But Im talking about people who have been for years when we were Bradford Northern and are now no longer going to renew their season pass because enough is enough. Many of my friends won't go anymore, they can cope with Bradford losing, missing the play-offs even to an extent, but sometimes the lack of passion displayed is disheartening to them.

Our club not so long ago once led the way on promotion and marketing, we are now a joke, it's virtually non existent as the hard work of the late Peter Deakin will have been undone if it already hasn't.

There should be promotion around the City like they have in Leeds and Hull, telling everyone that the new season is about to start and that we have a chance of doing something.

Peter Hood once said in the T&A that we need a 10,000 crowd to break even, well with no wealthy benefactor we are now in the losing money as our average crowd has dipped below the 10k mark and with that we also lose a point on the RFL franchise grading.

Our new board member will hopefully be doing something about that.

In fact, we have only had ONE poor season, where we failed to make the playoffs. Nobody would argue either that or that some individual, and some team, performances in that season were way below par.

Of course you always get those who will then look at the previous year etc. and say that was "not good enough" either (because we "won nothing" or "didn't make a Final"icon_wink.gif and whilst it is good to set your sights high, in fact you can't be up at the top of the tree, forever.

Once you decline, as all teams have, and as all teams will, by definition you finish lower in the table. Still (last year apart) most teams and most supporters would swap places with us, so don't exaggerate.

And many stayed away last year, and for all I know may not renew this year, that is their right, but IF we start strongly and put together a string of decent results then the majority of the fair-weather followers will be back, singing our praises. Such is life.

Look, you can`t come on here talking sense. There are standards to be maintained so any repetition and I`ll be left with no alternative but to report your post to the mods.

random figure plucked out of the air so mick has something to moan about I suspect. wouldnt be at all surprised if season ticket sales are down considering economic climate and on back of a bad season. But hopefully the new marketing guy will get things moving again, and cynically then if we do have a good season then we'll make more money from lapsed season ticket holders being walk up supporters and paying full whack as opposed to paying less via a season ticket.
