| I must say I am slightly underwhelmed by this signing. I've never particularly rated him to be honest.
Like all new signings I will give him a chance to impress in Bulls colours before bagging the guy though. I must admit though, with 200k in our back pockets I was hoping we might have been targeting a higher calibre player than Sculthorpe. It strikes me as a stop gap signings who has the unenviable tag of 'Burgess replacement' to contend with as well! I just hope we have not spent a decent wedge of cap and that his contract has some strict discipline clauses in places.
So one final quota spot to fill... have they saved the best until last?

Aye, and Eddie is hinting at it too. And, as we all know:

| Another McNamara masterstroke.
Dear me.
What an embarrassing squad we have for next season.

| Hmmmm.
Didn't see this one coming. Always nice to sign someone who Wakefield didn't want though eh?
He can be a really good player on his day, but there's just something that doesn't work about this signing for me.

| isn't Sculthorpe's discipline more of a problem? His signing gives us a bit of mongrel in the pack and that isn't a bad thing. Whilst he isn't a household name, I don't think its a bad signing.

| OMG. His career has sub next to most of it which sums him up & it's not as if he is much of an impact player.

| Pretty much agree with Bully Boxer here, I really hope there's a big signing on the horizon.
Anyway in best BSC style rlwikipediarl
Quote: "Sculthorpe had previously had spells with Leeds Academy and Warrington - whom he joined as part of the deal that took Iestyn Harris to Leeds. However, as a diabetic, he had been dogged by injury and dietary / fitness issues at both teams. The same has continued at Wakefield, and many are questioning if he will ever be any good on the pitch again.

| I actually like him, he can certainly offload the ball and has some good old fashioned aggression in him. The only problem i have with him is that he does seem injury prone!!

20201.jpg "I'm 49, I've had a brain haemorrhage and a triple bypass and I could still go out and play a reasonable game of rugby union. But I wouldn't last 30 seconds in rugby league." - Graham Lowe (1995):20201.jpg |

Except he's the type of mongrel that sits whimpering outside the chip shop for scraps the Catalan pack knocked him all over the ground in the play-offs, he has no impact, a poor disciplinary record and presumably no-one else wanted him. I hope he proves me wrong, but i fear we have now reached the point when in truth we have no more pulling power than Wakey and to an extent we seem resigned to mid-table mediocrity. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed the last quota spot indicates better, but I think we all know it's Walker. Given what we know now, I'd rather have let Hall play prop and kept Morrison, than sign Sculthorpe.

He's a Sculthorpe, therefore has biscuit bones.
If he produces the kind of form he did when he was playing at Castleford and in the good games he's had, it could turn out ok. But the injury proneness and the discipline issues is going to make it a "wait and see" kind of signing.
Gone are the days though of not signing bad discipline players (or getting rid of them) which seemed to be in force when Noble was in charge. Now we seem fine with it.

You have to remember though that the Morrison release wasn't just because he's had injuries. It was because he's had injuries and takes up a quota spot.
Not saying I agree with it, but Morrison's decision wasn't purely on the injuries, so it can't really be compared with bringing in more injury prone players like Reardon and Sculthorpe who are English.

Certain folks can always be relied on to hail any decision as fantastic.
Just like certain folks can always be relied on to slag off any decision as terrible.

Or we could always wait and see how he goes. Nah, let's slag him off now.
Hey, didn't he have a beer on a coach once? Is there a way we can use that to compare him to Ian Huntley?
