You also have things called Adeybulls, since that's where I am working for a while. Suppose I might have to look into this, although you never know what sort of strange natives you might bump into...

Got some tickets today - first day they were on sale - but I was disappointed on a couple of other events where they have sold out already. If you fancy seeing the likes of Titchmarsh or Fearnley-W you are too late, though why you would want to is another matter. It was amusing in the Grove today seeing pink rinses with a copy of the programme in their hands bombing between the book shop & tourist info, the only places that sell them in person, if one had sold out.

The people who wrote the blurb clearly know nothing - Rugby League is the literary sport par excellence. I know of no decent union literature, and precious little for soccer. Even in the over-hyped case of cricket, there are screeds of dewy-eyed tosh for every Arlott or Cardus, and a few pages from 'England, Their England' or verses from Thompson would barely make up a pamphlet. We, on the other hand, have one of the greatest post-war novels on any subject in 'This Sporting Life', not to mention an excellent stage play from the same pen, and an unjustly forgotten TV series in Plater's 'Trinity Tales'. Then there's 'Up'n'Under'.
...OK - you can scratch the last.

Jeez that's going back a bit! I was in my early teens and still down in the Midlands when that came out!

Your early teens? Were you born on Feb 29 Adey?

Hardly. Maybe different version? The one I recall came out about 1975 - which, thinking about it, made me mid-teens
