| Quote: Bullnorthern "After last night's performance I hope Marc Green decides not to pursue the case. 6 points will make no difference and I would prefer him to use any money to improve the business. We need to spend the maximum allowed on the playing side and invest in the future by retaining Tong and a youth development structure.
If he is still aggrieved he has an alternative.Rather than risking the expense of court action he could just publish his case and supporting evidence and let all fans see his version of events. Obviously Red Hall ( and any other interested parties) would have the opportunity to comment/ dispute his account.
The crowd last night was in my opinion pretty remarkable when you consider the recent lamentable performances, being on Sky and a small away following. A higher crowd than London Wakefield Salford and Widnes achieved in their last home fixture . Only 500 less than the Giants had against Wigan
I think an average crowd of 4 to 4.5 K is achievable in SL2 which should give the Bulls a higher financial base than our new rivals next season. Whether it will be better managed is the key. All the Championship teams seem to be managed well and I fully expect them to use the increased Sky money in 2015 wisely.'"
At long last a practical and sensible posting, this after several weeks of utter nonsense.

Phew--- after the compliment from Backwoodsman ( thank you friend) I then see FA as the next poster. Fully expecting a dressing down, I'm so relieved at my escape I shall open that special bottle of premium ale.

| I think FA is right about the Bulls being an attractive proposition for a decent championship player. With decent crowds, you should be the premier financial draw in that division. The main problem you will have is that attracting a good championship player who is currently part-time will be persuading him to give up his day-job. I think it was Danny Brough who said that he was better off as a part-time player with a full-time job than as a full-time professional player, until he really hit his straps.
I suspect your main chance is to attract decent young players from other super league clubs who can't get a first team slot but aspire to full-time rugby.
As for the High Court, as has been said, could be an expensive mistake, and even if you were successful, although you'll get your costs back, it would be a pointless victory if the six points still left you in the relegation slot.

Rubbish. There are two less super league clubs next year so there are loads of players around next year.

Not necessarily, the two clubs going down are likely to be fulltime next year and Featherstone and Leigh are also moving to full time from next season and paying the full cap. I read an article somewhere that Halifax are also planning a 'core' of full time players. So competition for players is likely to be greater than ever before even for superleague clubs where guys that might have otherwise have been moderately paid squad players may be able to pick up better deals in the divison below.

He should move on the relegation plan and allow the coach to start building a squad for next year, otherwise we could find a paucity of players, and miss the opportunity to get back to SL1 at he 1st chance'"
Would prefer him to get the right man to be honest.

Given that you are likely to be win of them, the only other super league team with players wanting to leave will be London, and why would they go to another Championship club?
There will be a few players looking for other clubs. Unfortunately, they currently play for you.

Oh, you're so right. However will we able to maintain standards if this lot leave? We must keep all of them at all costs.

I'm rather partial to that myself. All spares gratefully taken care of.

I suspect you'll keep some. I would imagine the younger ones will want top flight, like Foster and Gaskell and Kear. People like Chev Walker might fancy seeing out their careers with you. Some hungry young players on the fringes of super league squads might be what you need more than what you currently have, with perhaps a couple of grizzled old forwards seeing out their careers.
The championship could be pretty competitive next year. Some super league coaches might fancy long loan deals for their young players who need some grown up regular play. The other championship clubs seem to have built their squads through the years, whereas I imagine you will want the quick hit, the fast return. The disaster for you isn't the championship, but a long time in there.

| I'm with you Slugger a core of experienced forwards and top 5 fringe younger players. I wouldnt try to keep Nas and purtell, just our own such as Donno and Kear. A clean sweep is possible as theres two goes at it, the first part of the season would be about bedding in a new squad which would have to be in the top four at the end of round one, so by the split for round two they are playing together and competitive.

| Where do you stand on Starbug's general point that a Jose Mourinho-motivator could get the present squad to play?
I know I have begun to get a downer on the squad as several regularly don't put it all in, and don't play as a team, hence our 50 points a week giveaway, but in calm moments I do tend to agree. I still think that a coach like (just for a good example) old Peter Fox back in the day could come in and over time, make something quite decent out of this lot, as well as picking up cast-offs for nothing and improving the mix.
We've no money nor likely to have any to spend, so who is there that might fit the Fox mould? Wage deals permitting, we do I believe have a squad which, wit total belief in their coach and themselves, could easily finish at the top of the Championship and I say this for the simple reason that no Championship team this season, with the possible exception of Leigh, could approach the levels we showed in a couple of our rare wins, and they haven't turned into bad players, they're just impersonating bad players, albeit very well.

The thing is that in 2015 the Bulls spend will be substantially down on 2014. If you are now on £1.2m / £1.3m spend then cutting 300-400K is substantial. Meanwhile all the current Championship clubs will be able to spend substantially more in 2015, they can all strengthen.
You will be up against Leigh / Fev / Donny / fax / Sheffield / London(?)for a top 4 slot.
The top 2 championship clubs will get 4 home games (3 away) in phase 2 so finishing in the top 2 is advantageous. It will not be easy.
The 4 teams that will drop from SL1 - using current clubs in places 9/10/11/12 - would be Hull HKR Salford and Wakey. they will have a cap spend of £1.8m (with a substantial hike in Sky money)
I do not think finishing top of championship will be easy. Getting back in SL will be very difficult.

All four tier two teams get 4 home ges in 2nd phase, not just top two.
