If it's not officially confirmed before the game, we should certainly be able to tell by his reaction after the final hooter. Him and a few others actually.

Seems pretty certain these guys are off, so I hope Langley does play and gets the reception and farewell his loyal and excellent service deserves.
Id say he deserves a big screen highlight reel given he was playing in the all conquring 2003 squad and played in 2 world club championship winning sides and the 2005 grand final winning side.... the last player to leave from our golden era. Thanks for the effort Jamie.
Good luck and thanks too to Platt, Lulia and Jobe.

| Quote ="GIANT DAZ":11oe38r8From my point of view i still enjoy beating the Bulls, it comes from when Bradford were a pretty decent team themselves
when Bulls fans took great pleasure in ridiculing EVERYTHING to do with our club, fair enough there was a lot worth ridiculing back then, but stuff like "huddersfield dont deserve to be in the same league" " they will never be as good as us" and the usual stuff about crowds/scorelines/players, some of it justified, some just arrogance, some friendly banter.
We used to get the service bus back after the game and it was packed with Bulls fans going back home to Huddersfield, again taking the pee out of everything about our club, it did grind with us obviously and we did think wouldn't it be nice to beat these and shut these people up and WE can turn the tables....Well we did and we overtook the Bulls on and off the field eventually, then it was our turn to return the pleasantries.
Today there are no Bulls fans on that journey home anymore but certainly for most of us who were around then it was and is still sweet when we beat Bradford even though these years its almost expected. it is amicable, certainly from us, its more getting our own back really, though i do get the impression our progress in the last few years has hurt the Bulls fans, not all but certainly some i've come across, more than they will admit -possibly from the ones who were indeed the ones who stated we would never compete with their world beating Bulls.
It is a derby game, a rivalry no matter how big, from both sides and i guess its like any other derby game where the winner gets the bragging rights. We suffered years of hammerings at home and away, had the Bulls rammed down our throats in our own town so its kind of strange that it all died.'" :11oe38r8
Mate, anyone who has been around since before a week last Wednesday could tell you that it generally goes in circles. Clubs come up and then they drop [even Wiggin spent time in div 2 and the only certainty is that nothing really stays the same forever. The Bulls had a good run and we enjoyed it, now it looks like it could be your turn [though, to turn a phrase - "you've won nowt yet" so enjoy it while it lasts, and savour it too, for it sure as hell doesn't last forever.
For most Bulls' fans the only [i:11oe38r8real[/i it will become a 'bigger' fixture in our minds. Good luck in the play-offs.

Dunno is the short answer. The only rumour I've head is that Cas were interested, but that's totally unsubstantiated and may have stemmed from the Millward period anyway.

KR & cas are in for him from what I've heard.
He wanted to be a 1 club man, and I'm gutted to see him go. Stroke of genius by FC when he's already struggling to win the fans over!

This was from Wedneday 28th August which kind of sums up his thinking I reckon;
[iLong-serving duo Jamie Langley and Michael Platt are out of contract at the end of the year and their futures remain uncertain. But Cummins has not entirely ruled out the prospect of the duo agreeing new deals to remain at the club next season. He added: “Is there room under the cap for them next year? Yes, if I think they’re worth a certain amount of money and they accept it then there is. That’s the way it is and that’s the way we’ve had to do it. The club’s probably overpaid to certain players in recent years and I don’t mean to those two specifically but in general. I’ll pay the players what they’re worth and if they don’t accept that then they’ll go somewhere else. We need to make sure that it’s fair."[/i

I agree with your sentiments but to be honest he was not thought that way by a lot of fans, they saw him as a plodder who could tackle and little else in the last few seasons. Maybe he wanted more money than the Bulls were prepared to pay. Anyway I wish him well he`s been a loyal servant.

But for me it sends out the wrong message. Loyalty will not be rewarded at the bulls.

Sorry as I am to see Langers leave I have to agree with that.
I suspect all pro sports people are only too well aware, and I'm sorry to be so crude about it, but they have a 'shelf life' which goes up from being young bucks and then drops as their effectiveness diminishes. FC has a budget and he has to make it work, end of really.

Well it's loyalty or improving the team. As it stands we can't do both. Langley has been a good servant to the club, but his wage is a huge drain on resources which could be better used in other areas of the team. Both he and Platt share a similar "solid if unspectacular" tag and if they were willing to sign on for lower wages, I've no doubt FC would be happy to keep them at the club.

Can't see him being over worried by what we think, to be honest. Let's be honest, the one certainty in a coaching career is that one day you're going to get fired, so it's best to do what you perceive as being in the best interests of the club, so as to put off that day for as long as possible...

| Let's not canonize Langley just because he has been at Odsal for a number of years.
He has spent much of that time injured, not his fault I agree, but its a fact and he hasn't really hit the heights that many thought he would reach.
If he's been offered X and he hasn't accepted that then fair enough IMO.The money can hopefully buy us some pace in the backs.

So would I. But that doesn't mean he can't take it into account at all.
If we -as Whitcut stated- have the full cap available, then Langley also gets the 50k exemption and he's the type of bloke you need at the club.
FC has talked about having the right attitude, being committed and loyal. Langley fits the bill perfectly, and I would have much preferred him to give a contract to Langley than him sorting his mates/brother in laws contracts out.

| May get a 50k exception for Langley re the salary cap but this is a paper exercise, the reality is the club still has to find the money to pay his full salary.
He has been a great servant to the club and well paid for this.
Budgets are limited for us all, perhaps club feel they can get better value for the actual cash they pay Jamie and Platty. We all have difficult financial decisions to make.
Life Stuart Fielden last year a lot of folk (me inc) would have liked to see him back at Bulls IF THE PRICE IS RIGHT but it wasn't.

| We could look elsewhere for our season tickets for better value, but we don't because we are loyal. I'm feeling increasingly likely to make the difficult financial decision to not renew my season ticket.
Maybe robbie can tell us how this fits in with all the hashtag belong nonsense. If anyone 'belongs' its Jamie Langley after his contributions for the last 13 years.

That's nonsense. Jamie's contract blatantly doesn't offer value for money in it's current state in a similar way to Platty. If we could keep both and still improve the overall squad that would be great but I imagine that on the current wages it's financially impossible. From their pov, if I had been offered the same role in my work for half the pay I'd be moving on fairly sharpish too. I'll be gutted to see him go but not as gutted as I was to see Beaver go to Catalans and continue being the best player in the league, just somewhere else. Jamie has never lived up to being "the next Andy Farrell". He's not a touch on the top Loose Forwards in the league and he hasn't really made a great transition up through the pack. He's a solid player but nothing more. There really is no place for sentiment towards the squad. I'm far happier at retaining Donno and Addy than if they had both gone and we had kept Langley for "sentimental value". Let the new signings continue!

| I think it's right to let Langley and Platt go.Langley has been a good if not spectacular player for us who's work rate has always been exceptional.Hes also probably been one of the highest earners for a few years now and has shown very good loyalty in the last few years, and the Bulls have also been loyal to him by keep renewing his contract,so lets not say the Bulls are not showing loyalty to him, think the time has come to try get a bit more for the amount of money they are paying him.
As regards Platt, again it's general opinion he's probably on above average contract for a player, who to be honest is nowhere near above average player.Yes he tries very hard but if we want to be nearer the top of the table than the bottom then you would expect every player to try very hard, but with a bit more ability.Bulls signed Platt in 2007 and since then it's been a downward slide,of course that's not Platts fault, but what my point is that since then we have mainly signed players from teams who are below us in the league,if we don't win tonight we will finish 11th this season so not many teams below us this year. The list of very average players we have signed in the last 6 or 7 years is endless and Platt is definately in that list
Platt
Herbert
Worrincey
Godwin
Nero
St Hilaire ( the player and the coach)
Evans
Sheriffe
Feather
And so on and so on
Every signing so far for next season are from teams in the top 8 (Gaskell from Saints not Salford) this has not happened for a long long time,so if we have to lose players who have been comfy for a while so be it

You may dismiss it as nonsense, but I know I'm not the only one who feels like that.
There's a difference between sentiment and loyalty.
People keep banging on about not keeping him for sentiment, but its not as though he's a terrible player, and his bad spell with injuries seems to have passed. I genuinely think we'll miss him and I think that he will go on to have a few more decent seasons.
I'm very happy with retaining those two as well. They still have a lot to learn though and a gf & wcc winning player should have plenty to pass on.
