| I still need some convincing of Briggs but you cannot deny that overall he was much improved today. I suspect Potter will opt for Herbert once fit, unless Briggs can find some 'undroppable' form.

| I know Briggs had a good game, kicking was special at getting us put of trouble.. But to drop a player in Herbert at 6 who has the third most try assists AND playing out of position is something I cant see Potter doing.

| The kicking game he brings (assuming its todays version) makes a huge difference and I think out weighs what Herbert brings to the team. It makes such a difference to where we are playing our rugby and where the opposition start their sets that for me it trumps the try assists.
I like Herbert and the way he plays and as I've said see it as being more between him and Jeffries for the other slot with Briggs. I can't remember what Jeffries kicking game is like right enough, anyone?

Briggs and Jeffries appear to be forming a much more cohesive partnership than anything else I've seen us put out this year. And this showed in places last week too

Pretty lucky to have a string of games, seems a rare thing this season in halves.. Not saying i would bang Herbert straight in but Potter might, was talking to Herbert friday and he was saying how hes playing against Salford

| Sykes was declared mince, but Briggs was worse. Spam, perhaps.

| Let's not get too carried away. One decentish display and he's suddenly turned into a player of Darren Lockyer's ability.

Standard for some fans though, they have a bad game, they should be taken outside and shot. Have a good game and they are the knew coming and saviour of the clubs till he makes a mistake and then isnt up to standard

| It is only one performance but it was better than anything Herbert has produced. A dramatic improvement wasthe ability to kick the ball deep when under pressure. I know the wind helped but at times Herbert's kicks have been the equivalent of an error, with the fullback simply catching the ball and getting back to the half way line.
I hope we stick with this partnership and that includes when Kearney is fit.

Nobody is saying that
I think what most people are saying is let's have some consistency in the halves. There were signs apparently that Briggs and Jeffries were starting to get it together against HKR, and that was built upon yesterday. It would seem ridiculous to throw that out of the window and bring Herbert back against Salford when he showed very little before.
I'd give Briggs and Jeffries another two or three games for definite. If the partnership isn't really gelling and progressing by then, that's the time to bring Herbert back.
It's the constant chopping and changing - whether for injuries or choice - that's hurting us

| briggs looked a lot better yesterday than against halifax. looked a real threat.
from what I've read of Herbert and other's views on him then he'd make a decent stand off. decent short passing game, creative close to the line. I wouldn't drop jeffries though.

| I think the reason Briggs hasn't been picked ahead of or along side Herbert this year is that they are both too similar as players. I think the introduction of Jeffries who can play a different game at half back means that either Herbert of Briggs can play their more natural game.
