Kear was getting slated on BCB and yet I thought he's looked good so far, what was the reality?

| BCB are complete morons?
Kear certainly had an excellent 2nd half and took a couple of difficult kicks with the sun in his face and generally worked hard for the team. Bronocs did score a scrappy try down his side but it was in the far opposite corner to where we were sat so I wouldn't like to judge whether he was at fault for that. His sideways run across the defence to break from our 30m was a real stunner though. In fact there is a couple of tries I'm looking forward to seeing again in the replay.

Most of the stick was in the first half and stopped after his break for Sammuts try. They seemed to be pointing the finger at him for most of Broncos tries....
To be fair the guy said he'd come out second half and redeemed himself but I was still curious about the first half. Not seen him as being a weak spot or slow which what they were saying. All seemed abit weird.

| Gale controlled the game well in the second half with his kicking game. Sammut played very well in the second half. The break from Kear for one of Sammut's tries was brilliant. We were Very good in the second half.

| Kear's copped for a bit of stick on here at times this season too. Mostly after the Widnes game IIRC but I didn't see that or the highlights. He does seem to have the odd defensive lapse but at other times be safe as houses. I think for the Catalans game their second half resurgence happened down his side when I think Whitehead was his centre.
Two of the Dixon tries happened within a minute or two of each other right before half time.
Personally I'm a big fan of his. Maybe won't get a sense of it out of context but looking forward to the highlights to see what happened.

| One of his strengths I believe is he generally gets us a quick play the ball. Once he hits the deck he lands well and is back up quickly

This would be the same bcb that slated sammut first half and tried to backtrack second half?

Aye that's the one. I'd let them off with the Pirate Midget though, he's brilliant one minute and anonymous the next. That said worth it for spells like today.

It's not that I have a problem with, it's how black and white they see things. If we're losing we're the worst team ever, but if we're winning then were the best ever. No shades of grey in between
. Plus the five minute rambles about nothing in particular while balls in play

Most of which is them taking two or three goes to get something right. They do seem to very quickly get a theme going and stick to it too.
Shouldn't be too critical as its got to be a difficult job to do, especially today where it sounded like they'd been given a spot where they could hardly see one end of the pitch. Also shouldn't be too ungrateful given that as I've made only one game this season and have no Sky if they didn't do it I'd be reading score updates online instead.
On the game though, was good to see (hear) Gale back and seemed to make a difference once he had settled in.

| Did BBC London not cover the game? Seem to remember listening to them a couple of years back and the commentary was excellent.

| Could'nt get there today cos of work. Sammut sounded unplayable in the second. His game has come on quantom leaps this season. He's such an unpredictable talent, but his consistency is coming on every week. We need to get him locked down for the next few years, as the vultures are circling!

| The difference between the first half and the second was actually pretty marginal to me; basically the moves were timed that bit better and the passes didn't go to ground. Two of Dixon's tries were directly from picking up a loose ball we'd put to ground and using his greater pace, definitely not any mistake by Kear, his third was from a kick across which he picked up and ran in unopposed. Guess you [icould[/i say Kear should have been competing for the ball but with a crossfield kick, with the defence sliding the other way, that's taking being picky to an extreme, imo.
Thought Sammutt was absolutely outstanding. It's possible to score tries by just 'being on the end of moves' but some of his yesterday were anything but, and pretty much down to him and his instincts; just superb, stepping like like Robbie in his pomp, and you can add in seven out of eight goal kicks too.
Loved Andy Wilson's comment in this morning's Observer about Sammutt 'trumping' Dixon's three tries and with his appearance, 'looking increasingly like an extra in a biblical epic'!
