Mick confirmed Garside under contract for next year in one of threads and Kear included him in his group of 2nd towers for next year in one of recent articles.
If Chisholm doesn’t re-sign then we will have to find a replacement imo. Lilley and Keyes are ok for some games but we need someone senior as well.

| In League Express it mentioned that we have made an offer to Chizzy. We must make him a priority as we need players of his quality that can score tries from nothing. I know he has not had his best season what with the injury etc. but over the last couple of months he has looked more like his old self and also played a much more structures role. I appreciate we can't break the bank to sign him but hope we make a real effort to re-sign him.

| I would be OK with signing Chizzy again although he runs in circles rather than putting players through. I don't think he is as good as the reputation he has managed to gain when not actually playing for any top team. Some players manage to do that somehow. I wouldn't rate him as our top earner.
Did anyone hear Phil Caplan listing the clubs who made a significant loss this last financial year. He said it is public knowledge that we lost over half a million that year.
I don't know enough about the financial running of a club but is this figure a surprise to others. Was it a one off with all the problems the club had in that first year after the re-birth probably having to spend money to sort everything out including the payout to the players after the court case?
Hopefully, it is all part of the overall plan and is covered without us going down that well known path of recent years. I have faith in Chalmers financial planning.

| As I thought, so no surprise. The accounts are a bit too summarised to say much more than that plus a pointer or two. What the period of the loan is would be useful to know. with the date being to the 31st January the creditors less than one year figure of £115k will substantially be season ticket sales taken up to that date that is for the following season and accounts. The receipts from those sales are sitting in the bank account of £95k and I cannot see there being many other debtors, just sponsorship and the like. Take those season ticket sales and trade creditors wont be a vast amount, and it therefore looks as if there may be a payment holiday on the loan as you would expect creditors to be a bit higher if there were repayments scheduled for this year. There was not even a photocopier, but Chalmers is being modest in referring to that, there weren't any season ticket sales either. Nearly three quarters of a million loan, no wonder Chalmers thought of Humpsterchops and his stupid demands as nothing more than a depressed whining gnat with ocd. What it tells us is that there is a sugary daddy with an eye for a man with a plan, it will be interesting to see what happens to the loan after this season.

| Yeah i was going to mention the accounts (did he say £500k loss on the radio?) don't think thats a surprise to anyone. No season ticket money, sponsors etc and had to pay for a FT squad next year and all equipment to basically run a club.

It was on the 40/20 podcast they do on a monday(Good show it is by the way).Phil Caplan definitely says loss of 500k and later on when asked to clarify he says "its common knowledge as far as I'm concerned"

| The loss has been covered by someone. However I don't think it's Koukash. It's not his style to keep a low profile. I suspect it's someone else.

| Earlier this year at one of the games when Koukash was guest speaker before the game in the Southbank, he said he would be involved with a club again by the end of the year. I thought at the time, he’s picked a strange place to announce that if the club in question wasn’t the Bulls.
If it’s not Koukash my money is on Nigel Wood, or maybe a combination of them both

To be honest, I'm not really sure Chissy has been playing at anywhere near the level to entice even lower level SL clubs this last season. He is [icapapble[/i of far better than we've had last year though imo, and I hope I'm correct in saying that he won't attract SL clubs as I'd like to see him back here. As time passes it will become more and more difficult to find a replacement and, as has been suggested above, I'm sure the partnership between Keyes and Lilley would not really be strong enough to carry us through the year on their own. Much as it's been only rarely seen at times over recent months, we need his 'spark'.

The situation was different then as we had a decent figure in the bank, but we were running a fairly regular £500K losses in the middle noughties (according to published accounts) before the brown stuff finally hit the rapidly whirring object. If that last figure is an exception, and as has been suggested, must have been covered, then there is probably little to worry about, given we were a start-up the previous season, with all the associated start-up costs. If the next set of figures show a similar figure, then I'll start worrying.

| So long as someone is covering the loss then fair enough. That's the situation at 99% of RL clubs.

That's bang on. . Chissy, who we know has his faults, is a crowd pleaser by the fact that his ability to score long range tries with a touch of brilliance brings excitement and can ignite a dull game.

And we crashed out of SL, 1 year before central funding went from £1.2 to £1.8m. If, buts & maybes...

Yes he did, though I read that as being a reference to this year. It may be Chalmers who covered the loss last year, but it's probably someone else.
To start from scratch with a full time professional club most likely meant that an initial loss was always part of the Business Plan. Maybe that's why the administrator wouldn't accept the bid. £500k isn't a huge loss in terms of sport. Yorkshire CCC would love a loss like that!
That doesn't mean we should take it lightly though, especially with our history, but it does seem to be covered.
If nothing else it's a good reality check for a few supporters who think the playing budget is a bottomless pit. Every time we announce a great signing you can rely on someone posting "ok, still could do with a couple of props, a half back, some wingers etc etc". We probably could but who's paying for it?

| Not sure Chalmers is wealthy enough to cover losses of that magnitude. I suspect someone else is chipping in. Cue tinfoil hat wearers…
If we don’t re-sign Chisholm then we certainly need a replacement. Lilley and Keyes with Wildie and Milnes as backup isn’t really good enough. I think Chisholm is capable of better than he’s given us this season. I make allowances for the injury but at the same time he’s looked at times like he’s going through the motions. It’s easy to get seduced by the flashes of magic and we’ll need those bits of flair next season. What we also need is the discipline in his game he showed versus Oldham in the playoffs. We don’t need him running down blind alleys and confusing the team with too much off the cuff rugby. He reminds me of Rangi Chase in many ways (on the field!) in that he can do special things but can be frustrating to run off for other players.
