Will be interesting to see what the salary cap is for 2015 outside SL. In order to allow teams to ramp up for 2016, and mitigate the parachute payments to level the playing field, it will surely have to increase?'"
Not sure if this is official, but I've heard a figure of £950k being quoted for the SL2 salary cap. I think it is also restricted by the club's turnover too, probably to help avoid other clubs 'doing a Bulls' so to speak

No, I asked you to provide evidence to back up your statement.
Therefore, until you provide links to the article that clearly state the quotes you're ascribing, you have not done that.

No, absolutely not me - I mean, I may well have looked a bit of a plonker in my shorts and sandals but even I've got limits...

| Quote: Northernrelic "Not sure how many players we have left in our squad with all the loanees coming in and out - but assuming 25 players, and a wage bill of £1m that would average at £40k per player which seems low for a SL outfit, so I would guess our current wage bill is still above the £1m mark, though well below the SL cap. But as several posters have said most of the higher paid ones are likely to move on if we are relegated - if they can persuade potential new clubs they can perform better than they have been doing in the last few matches for the Bulls.'"
Lets not forget the low wages that some of the kids will be on. For example, from the list below, i'd expect the players to be on less than £40,000. The ones with the '*' against them are the ones that i think will be on less than £20,000
Kear
Olbison
Walker
O'Brien*
Roberts*
Wood*
Conroy*
Mellor*
Brook*
Addy
I've no doubt we have a couple of high earners (Kearney, Diskin, Gale), but I don't expect them to be here next year.
A cap of £950,000 should be enough to build a squad capable of finishing close to the top of SL2. The only problem I then see is I don't think it will be enough to compete with the teams at the bottom of SL1, but lets give it a go. I think Fakir would go well in SL2, wouldn't mind keeping him here next year.
I've just checked and our full time squad (excluding loanees) is 25 players.

| Good post Davey - guess if you add Ferguson, Manu maybe half the payroll goes to the top 6 players, and that is probably equality after the Harris years!
So we should be able to be competitive spending £950k if we can retain the bulk of the named individuals in your post - certainly think some of those are value for money and a few would even pass FA's effort test.

| There will also be 50 less SL1 squad places available. I can see us releasing all our overseas players, and players retiring as mentioned, but i can't see many teams fighting for players that have played carp all season, or players who have been on the injury list for the most part of this season (fergerson) or previous seasons (donno). With the fewer squad places available, i could see us retaining the vast majority.... st least i hope we retain the vast majority of people!

| With regards to the team, I'd imagine that we'd see a sharp down turn in u21 players coming through the ranks as I'd think the majority of the cap would be geared towards the first team (way to go there RFL, another brilliant idea to increase the player pool)

| Also the option is if we do stay full time is signing players from the championship, they may be tempted by a full time club.

| Wind-up merchants aside, the fact remains taht from the perspective of most Championship players a relegated Bulls club is still a big club, and something to aspire to.
It's the same for coaches, Dewsbury said they don't want to lose Morrison but wouldn't stand in his way if a SL club came calling - and that was said knowing it's us, and that we aren't for most purposes a SL club any more.
We still have to find the money, but there are plenty of decent players at Championship level and most would be highly interested in playing for us, however much trolls may come up with the no-longer-a-big-club bollox. I also suspect a few of our own would be as likely to renegotiate a reduced deal to stay as search for pastures new. As davey pointed out the pay, and pay differences, may not be that great anyway.

Why, if their contracts subsist notwithstanding relegation? (Still nobody appears to know whether or not contracts are null and void on relegation).

Because there are many reasons a person might agree to renegotiate a contract. Depends on various factors, the pay for 2015 is just one.
