| What a miserable moaning set of fans we have!
Jeffries is a decent standard SL halfback who is better than anyone we have in our side right now. I expect he has been signed to play 7 this year and also provide some cover for 2012. Non-quota, available for next week and doubt he'll be asking silly money. He isn't the answer long term but he should provide some direction and creativity in the short term. Potter has seen what Briggs can do and obviously doesn't feel he is ready or likely to be this year at least. Looks better than Sykes/Herbie for the next two months!

| Quote: Rickflynn "From what I have heard Potter isn't happy with Briggs defence and has had him training on his own working on this. 36% of tackles missed shows this. He is definitely in Potters plans'"
Why not let him go back to Featherstone on a dual reg then?
He'd still be training full time with the Bulls but would be getting regular gametime at a higher level. Plus he's loved there so would help with his confidence.
When he gets to the level Potter wants him at for first team football we have first dibs. Similarly if injuries mount up like this weekend we can pick him first.

| Is loving everyones optimism regarding BJ. Lets see how he goes this time round before we start making judgement. How about instead of knocking people before a game u get behind the them and the team. At the wire game there were quite a few fickle fans booing the lads which is totally uncalled for. If ur a true supporter then support them thru thick and thin.
People get too used to the success we have had and expect it all the time. It just doesnt happen.
Rant Over.

| From what I have heard the reason wakey have brought Moore in from Batley is because their kicking game was dire and because Jeffries was poor and going missing in most games and that is why Jeffries is now available when he wasnt earlier in the season. Briggs kicking game is ten times better than jeffries.

| Briggs is a quality kicker, the pre season game at Dewsbury he landed 3 40/20's in one game, i dont think weve had 1 40/20 all season. I hope he plays tomorrow and has a blinder. He needs to be given a run of games at stand off and get him upto speed.

Well let's see where we go from here. I've said my bit so I'll leave it there.

well we can't say what Potter is thinking. Let's hope he has a big game tomorrow and builds some confidence up.

that pretty much sums up my thiniking on the signing. on his day jeffries is a good player. the problem is his lack of consistency. Provided he isnt going to be our first choice half next year then I dont see a massive problem with the signing.

| Until I read Bully Boxer's post, I was starting to wonder where I had left that rope and where was the nearest low beam?
Hardly enthused about this signing, but to be honest it seems to sum up where we are with our inability to secure top-class signings now, given our languishing table position and lack of wealthy owner.
But its clear we are in dire straits in the halves, and that Potter does not believe either Briggs or Southernwood are up to it yet, so at least we have recruited an experienced half to help address that crisis short term. Which Ben will turn up - the anonymous one or the game-winning one - remains to be seen. I pray its more the latter.
Need to remember too that we should be a different team again once we get the injured bodies back. And yes, pray we don't pick up any more injuries. Just how mcuh bad luck over several years can a team have?
Quote: Norris "Wakefield coach John Kear said
That speaks volumes - Ben does not expect Wakey to be in SL next year, and that he'll be out of a job if he stayed there. Doubt he will have been that expensive. On his day, he can work wonders on the park. Let us hope he soon makes all his doubters look silly.

Good point Adey, and presumably the uncertainty about the future should mean that he will be on modest money in return for the 18 months of security
Whilst I was certainly underwhelmed - and said so - earlier today, I do think we need to get behind the bloke. There was a time when BJ was one of the best half backs in SL, albeit a few years back. I remember that year when Wakefield made a big run to the play offs, the year that Solomona was playing out of his skin, and he was brilliant then. If he can re-capture at least some of that form, then he will add to our squad.

| Very underwhelming. I know all about Jeffries abilities and he's not the player to turn us into a top 8 side. However he may help us out of the bottom 3.

| As I've said in earlier posts I like Jeffries and would have liked him to stay in the first place. Before he got injured in his first spell at the club he was near the top of the opta stats for try assists in the League. IMO Scrum half is his best position and hopefully Potter will play him there with Herbert moving to Stand off? Also like others have stated non qouta..

| Quote: Norris "The (Wakefield)club understands Ben's desire to move on for both his own and his family's future.'"
Quote: Norris "He potentially can play a few more years after this so he's by no means over the hill and could play a part for us in the future.'"
So: we have a guy who is clearly concerned for his playing future and for his continuing income, and a head coach who is dangling the carrot of "if you do a good job for us you might be able to wait a bit longer before having to worry about those".
Taking those two together, you have a concerned player being given an opportunity to extend his playing career in the top flight if he performs. Maybe, just maybe, for this reason he will?
