| Far more positives than negatives today IMHO. Part of the reason we had so much territorial possession was that our defence in the oppositions half and midfield was superb, and we didnt give away too many daft pens to gift easy yardage.
Morrison, Menzies, Nero, Scrutton amounst others looked good. Yes we made some crucial individual errors (jefferies and Platt guilty the most) and we looked very rusty in taking chances - but at least we got in the position in the first place, whereas in plenty of games last year we didnt even do that. (although our halves need a kick up the backside for next week)
Also, I think not enough has been said about the Hull KR defence, which I thought was excellent, they showed a real desire to defend their line again and again. So us not getting over even with all the possession was quite a bit to do with some excellent defence on HKR's part and they deserved their point on that basis if you ask me.
Anyone calling for McNamaras head after that game either didnt see it, or is (more likely) on the wind up.

| Quote mystic eddie="mystic eddie"So the RFL are responsible for who we play friendlies against? Given that I already mentioned that we were unfortunate last week but that is a crap excuse.
The responsibility for us to be prepared for the start of the season lies with ourselves.'"
The RFl are only responsible for which weekends are available for friendlies which you are well aware.
If there are no weekends left and no SL opposition left at short notice then it kind of makes it difficult to play one.
I can only assume you are pulling your usual "politician smokescreen" tactic to cloud an issue

| As other posters have said our attacking play today wasn't the greatest. We had tons of possession in great field position but had no idea how to convert it into points. We tried endlessly to run through HKR who tackled their hearts out and we lacked any guile or flair. Tadulala's try was down to a good ball from Morrison but Nero's was just down to strength. For the rest of the time we never looked like creating an opening.
We were hampered by losing Solomona who could well have helped create something. Jeffries was off with a knock for long enough but came back on the field. However he never looked very convincing. Deacon didn't do much either. There was lots of effort and energy being used but little direction.
The pack did its job very well. Apart from two bad penalties (the last from Godwin allowed HKR to get back up the field and level things) we were much more disciplined than last year. Scruton and Morrison were the pick for me though Burgess and Menzies had their moments.
A lack of support play was a problem at times, too often players would stand back and admire their teammates rather than come up in support and pose questions for the defence.
Platt had another one of those games where unfortunately the negative outweighed the positive. His missed tackle on Fox was bad and he should've done better. The foot in touch was so needless too.
While Nero looked much fitter he didn't really ever make a break, the rest really lacked cutting edge.
It's only the first game of the season so hopefully the combinations will improve but there's plenty to work on, especially in attack. Today's draw was really a moral victory for HKR.

| We should have won today we had loads of chances on the Hull K.R line and once again like last season didn't take them opportunities. As for the last few momments of the game Bradford did not need to go for the try we already had the game in the bag at 13-12 so why Bradford went to go for the try I don't know. I defanitely think this is the make or break season for SM.

At least you couldn't say it wasn't entertaining. Watching Platt for instance is never dull

Morrison, Menzies, Burgess and Scruton all put in some punishing hits and forced KR back. With Lynch still to come back, that area of our side looks superb. Our centres looked dangerous and forced Hull KR into some superb scrambling defence, Sheriffe and Tadulala both worked hard without ever really looking like scoring.
It's Deacon, Jeffries and Newton who we desperately need to start creating if we're to beat Huddersfield.

OK then, we will blame the RFL then. That is the first excuse of the season out of the way.

Tadulala's try looked like scoring to me
Sheriffe didn't do much but his try saving interception where he got in the way of a certain scoring pass was excellent. Other than that he did bugger all, he needs to start backing up in centre field a bit more IMO.
IMO Sykes looks better at fullback.
