If the RFL don't take some action after this admission they would in effect be saying that it is OK to lie to them. Time for the RFL to show what they are made of, I wonder if they will disappoint us once again?

Yep. They've been lied to as much as anyone else and we know how that feels.

That said to tap up a player is one thing - I bet it's a lot more common than you think - but to lie to an RFL investigation. If they did that the club and player in question should be hauled over the coals for it.

If I've got that right (?) that must be the most expensive prop pairing in the league.

Dont forget the wages quoted above will be basic salary... They will get something along the lines of £1,500 apperance money, £2k win bonus etc. £200 scoring a try, £5k England selection Etc Etc....

Well playing/selection for England is paid to the players by the RFL so that fact is irrelevant !!

Its written into "some" players contract that if they are selected for England. They get a payment from the club.

They get apperance money and match fees from the RFL.

Say for instance John Bateman gets selected for England he will receive a payment from the bulls in recognition of this.

This is my fear/expectation.

It could depend on whether the RFL were genuinely misled, or whether it was all just a charade. The "suggestion" that the Giants pay the Bulls £20k didn't exactly seem to be grounded in due process. If people at the RFL really knew what was going on between the player and the clubs (they were obviously keeping close tabs on the Bulls situation) they might not be too keen to re-open the issue.
