| yeah, - Princeville on thursday nights, newcy brown -some cracking bands - I remember the Lee Kosmin band getting a hard time as they played some wacky chacky funk and the audience was waiting for some rock - Son of a Bitch though- fantastic!
Queens Hall - Vinegar Joe, John Dummer, Pat Travers, etc - and in my earlier incarnation I went to see the Pioneers and Millie Small at the Textile Hall ( I think Derrick Morgan was on too)- Hole in the wall, Penny Farthing - god, im getting older by the minute.......

| Quote ="Ferocious Aardvark"No, the Goldsborough is the one just a few yards further up from the Corn Dolly. I believe it shut recently? Something i don't think will ever happen to the brilliant Dolly!'"
You're right, the Goldsboro is closed, as it has been so many times over recent years. It last stayed open for anything like a sustained period when 'Big Jim' (Wright) had it, a number of years ago. Looks now as though it's going to be offices or maybe a restaurant, they've obviously spent some serious money on it but no actual sign of it opening (as anything) at the moment.
I can't remember bands ever playing the golsborough, nor can I remember any other name to be honest, and I've been a regular at the Corn Dolly since the middle eighties when I first started at Royal Mail. I might have missed the bands though as I was also working in bands myself for a fair amount of the period covered, I rarely found time to go out and 'enjoy myself', if you know what I mean. ![Very Happy icon_biggrin.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_biggrin.gif)

| I can also recommend both the book and the cd collection which I bought when first released. It made me search around my 'collection of 'Bradford' stuff and for those of a certain age..Derek Lister's book 'Bradford's Rock 'n' Roll' covering the whole music scene in Bradford between 1959 and 1965,is an absolute gem! Fab memories of bygone youthful indulgences in the old place. ![GUITAR icon_guitarist.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_guitarist.gif)

| Maybe the OK Bulls could get a bunch of the old timers to take turns to do the entertainment? Certainly there's plenty I would definitely love to see again and there'd be a pretty sizeable target audience of nostalgic rockers, wouldn't there?

I'll have a word with Mick and Omar, but frankly even though money will be tight in SL2013, you might just be past your prime by next year, so I can't guarantee an offer.

I'll take payment in curries if Omar is interested.

| I went to the same school as Excalibur. I remember seeing them play live in the school hall and getting out of lessons into the bargain.

Saw all those several times, except Method who I don't remember. Fantastic stuff at WMCs back in the day. I didn't realise it was John Parr in Ponders End though. We saw him in a pub in Donny just after St Elmo's fire, stood on his own. We were too star struck & shy to go up & talk to him.

He used to flick his plectrum into the air and catch it behind his back!

Nope. One of our faves was Squeeler. No idea where they were from.

Martin remembers Jab Jab at the Princeville as a great reggae band - here is an update
Jab Jab are releasing an album, Keep on Smiling available in July, they have a website, www.jabjab.co and are also reforming for a reunion gig and a documentary film about them is being made. Please spread the word and send a message to them via the website as they would love to hear your memories.
Despite their great popularity, they never had a record deal and their fans could not access their music outside live performances - until now! Incredibly Jab Jab are finally getting their music out there after the unearthing of lost reel to reel tapes and a live recording cassette. These have been rescued and their album will be released in July in time for their reunion gig at the Holmfirth Picturedrome Yorkshire on the 18th JULY next month. The documentary film traces their roots from the Caribbean Island of Carriacou to Yorkshire where they were based and they played professionally, nationally and abroad, for many years. They are on a mission to find their old fans and any help is much appreciated. lots of detail on their website and links to their facebook page etc. They are all wonderful people and it's great to finally get their music shared thanks to the more affordable technology of today, compared to when bands had to have a record deal. Record companies were interested but did not have a category back then for their ground breaking fusion of traditional Caribbean calypso, funk, rock, and reggae with driving African beats. Band mottos - 'make the bad times good and the good times better' and 'one nation'.
enjoy the site and the music, message them with memories, come to the gig - and please spread the word to help them find their old fans!
