Featherstone asked if they could take him on a dual registration and the club said no. So why let him rot in the under 20's and sign a Wakefield cast off?
BTW have you seen who is playing in the halves at Wakefield keeping this lad out? I'll give you a clue - we let him go there as part of the deal that brought Southernwood to Bradford.
Says it all!'"
To be fair if Jeffries was fit he would be playing instead of Hyde.

Says in the T & A he'll make his debut against Hull KR next week as the signing was too late for his inclusion at Halifax tomorrow. So he is fit to play.

I'm still confident that by the time he is 21, Cain will have bulked up a little and [sizelearnt how to tackle[/size. Once that happens we'll have quite a handy scrum half I reckon.'"
Now thats a worry with two years to go and mr Hyde is really playing well thanks for the exchange

| Jeffries has the occiasional good game but they are few and far between these days. Seems to have lost a yard of pace as well and is starting to pick up injuries. Four and a half games this season says it all. If you can get him fit he'll do you a job but i'd have thought you'd have been setting your sights higher.

TBH I suspect the reason we aren't spending the full salary cap and are signing players unwanted by other clubs isn't down to a lack of ambition.
On the other hand Wakefield are probably debt free now (for the sake of four points) and can probably set their sights a little higher.

What's the point in signing someone for the sake of it then? Just because there isn't anyone better available isn't a reason to waste a salary.
I hope I'm wrong but I can't see how signing Jefferies will change anything when it comes to our recent Superleague performances.

| Signing for the sake of it!!!!
We have 1 half back fit, the much maligned Herbert!
We have shown a massive lack of a kicking game, no creativity and in experience in the halves
Jeffries, whilst not Thurston will improve this area
What would you have done or more importantly which world class half backs are available at the moment?

| This shows what we as fans should expect. We are a bottom 6 Club and not a top 8 club. No improvement and no ambition. Very disappointed with this!

From what I have heard Potter isn't happy with Briggs defence and has had him training on his own working on this. 36% of tackles missed shows this. He is definitely in Potters plans

On thta basis hardly any of the current first teamers should be playing, second worst defence in the league if I remember right. He couldn't make the defence much worse but might be able to add to the attack and creativity!

| Sums us up at the minute really. I wouldnt have been too bothered if we had signed him until the end of the season, but to sign him on for 2012 aswell. What will he offer that Southernwood or Briggs would'nt have. Anyway he's another body until the end of the season if he stays fit.

| In terms of the length of the contract i wonder if Jeffries had the same term left on his Wakey one? If so if I was him i wouldnt, at his age, be giving up an 18m contract for a 6m one with us

| The length of his contract does make me wonder about Kearney as well, I hope we're not in a situation where we might eventually lose Kearney to be replaced by Jefferies. If we were going to have someone from Wakey earlier in the season I would much rather it have been Obst.

Woh cool your jets I'm just given my opinion and asking you a question. No offence intended so sorry if I've overstepped the mark. I just have a different opinion to you.

I honestly don't think he will I don't rate him but like I said I hope I'm wrong.
Quote: Bets'y Bulls "What would you have done or more importantly which world class half backs are available at the moment?'"
Well for one thing I don't know which half backs would be available but if the right quality wasn't available I wouldn't bother spending any money until one was.
I'd move L'estrange to Scrum half and Herbert to Stand off. Like it or not Herbert is still our most creative player and will probably remain so. So let him do that and get L'estrange organising the team. I think that he could take the responsibility with Diskin doing his work in front. Diskin signed for us because he wanted more game time and he could play 80 mins. Plus Addy isn't that far off and Kearney will be back at some point.
Potter says in the T&A today that he tried to sign him earlier in the season so it very much looks like this isn't a signing to plug a gap but is the type of signing the club planned to make all along.
