It was one of those games where you could pick so many faults.

We looked clueless in attack. Newton made about 80% of his passes forward and looked lazy.

Menzies made things look extremely easy, but wasn't backed up by any of his team mates when he found the holes.

Scruton looked like he was asking himself what the hell he'd put himself in for, when he laid on the floor with 10 seconds to go.

Platt continues to be poor.

We spent approx 80% of the game camped in the KR half yet only scored 13 points, that's how clueless we were in attack.

Jeffries looked like he'd spat the dummy out because of us going for Greg Bird, he was poor.

We need to buck up or we're in for a hammering against the giants.

As for the KR fans, I'd never heard as much whining with the abuse given to the ref. I think they need to go through the rule book again before spouting off.

Quote: Bully_Boxer "I thought today we were let down by the half backs and our hookers. I thought Morrison did more creating than either Deacon or Jeffries today.

We had the chance to kill the game with possession but Jeffries came up with a crucial error to allow Hull KR a way back. The kicking game was generally poor, with a poor kick from Deacon being the main cause of conceding the first Hull KR try.

On the plus side I thought Nero, Morrison, Sykes, Menzies, Scruton and Burgess all looked good. Nero especially looked dangerous and caused Hull KR defence to scramble several times, hopefully he will come good this year. We looked pretty fit considering the lack of gametime but our timing was out and far too often our first pass went behind or forward!

Plenty to improve on but I expected it to be a scrappy game given the stop start nature to our season so far.'"

You just typed nearly everything I was thinking but add Koppy and Cook to the list of players that looked good. Now Solomona and Langley are out, probably for a few weeks if they have dislocated shoulders, then these boys and some of the other younger players in the squad get a great chance to play and show what they can do.

Very rusty and poor execution but equal amounts of this from both teams. It is encouraging just how long we spent in the Hull KR half and how much possession we had but equally as discouraging that we let them score the vital points they did with the few opportunities they had.

I think we need to stand a bit deeper when attacking too as far too many times we are playing the ball flat to players that are standing still and there is no un-obvious dummy runners running at it to confuse defenders and create gaps. Several times Morrison and Menzies did some clever running out wide only for everyone else to be either level with or in front of them so nobody to pass to.

RFL I think. We had 2 lower league friendlies then a friendly against KR lined up. Reasonable preseason warmup I thought.

Everyone was rusty today. Our defensive systems looked good - although not much pressure put on them. The two tries were individual errors. Not much changed there then.

Attacking wise - Hull KR were very solid, we made rookie errors ie no-one at the ptb, passing the ball onto Scrutons head. Hopefully (please!) match practice will help with this.

Referee (and his assistants) made a lot of mistakes. Some were in our favour and some against and some were totally just wrong.

I shook my head that much today it nearly fell off.

We were crap with a capital C.

I cant do with all this ''oh its only the first game'' bull*hit.....we were lucky not to lose big style.........HKR bombed at least 3 tries.

Try to think on the possitive side............................................Oh I cant!

So the RFL are responsible for who we play friendlies against? Given that I already mentioned that we were unfortunate last week but that is a crap excuse.

The responsibility for us to be prepared for the start of the season lies with ourselves.

Far more positives than negatives today IMHO. Part of the reason we had so much territorial possession was that our defence in the oppositions half and midfield was superb, and we didnt give away too many daft pens to gift easy yardage.

Morrison, Menzies, Nero, Scrutton amounst others looked good. Yes we made some crucial individual errors (jefferies and Platt guilty the most) and we looked very rusty in taking chances - but at least we got in the position in the first place, whereas in plenty of games last year we didnt even do that. (although our halves need a kick up the backside for next week)

Also, I think not enough has been said about the Hull KR defence, which I thought was excellent, they showed a real desire to defend their line again and again. So us not getting over even with all the possession was quite a bit to do with some excellent defence on HKR's part and they deserved their point on that basis if you ask me.

Anyone calling for McNamaras head after that game either didnt see it, or is (more likely) on the wind up.

The RFl are only responsible for which weekends are available for friendlies which you are well aware.

If there are no weekends left and no SL opposition left at short notice then it kind of makes it difficult to play one.

I can only assume you are pulling your usual "politician smokescreen" tactic to cloud an issue

As other posters have said our attacking play today wasn't the greatest. We had tons of possession in great field position but had no idea how to convert it into points. We tried endlessly to run through HKR who tackled their hearts out and we lacked any guile or flair. Tadulala's try was down to a good ball from Morrison but Nero's was just down to strength. For the rest of the time we never looked like creating an opening.

We were hampered by losing Solomona who could well have helped create something. Jeffries was off with a knock for long enough but came back on the field. However he never looked very convincing. Deacon didn't do much either. There was lots of effort and energy being used but little direction.

The pack did its job very well. Apart from two bad penalties (the last from Godwin allowed HKR to get back up the field and level things) we were much more disciplined than last year. Scruton and Morrison were the pick for me though Burgess and Menzies had their moments.

A lack of support play was a problem at times, too often players would stand back and admire their teammates rather than come up in support and pose questions for the defence.

Platt had another one of those games where unfortunately the negative outweighed the positive. His missed tackle on Fox was bad and he should've done better. The foot in touch was so needless too.

While Nero looked much fitter he didn't really ever make a break, the rest really lacked cutting edge.

It's only the first game of the season so hopefully the combinations will improve but there's plenty to work on, especially in attack. Today's draw was really a moral victory for HKR.
