This smacks of yet another possible c0ck up by the Club.
The story from Brian Mac seems to be him tactfully rulling himself out of the job with a veiled 2 fingers to the Bradford Board.
If the rumour that it was between Potter and McDermott as reported in the T&A wa true and McDermaott had learned that Potter had been offered it and turned it down leaving him as back up I can't see him being too happy.
In the same circumstance I think I'd tell them to stuff it if I thought I was second choice after somebody had turned it down, despite being pleaded with to reconsider.
What do they do now? Turn to 3rd or 4th choice?
I can see a readvertisment coming on.'"
I don't see how the club could have handled this any better or different. If there are a number of candidates, some already contracted, then they would be negligent in coming out with a list.

| I wonder, have there been any recentish examples of a rugby club cohersing someone under contract to another club into joining them?

Quite right. If McDermott has decided he's second choice and has taken umbrage on the back of press speculation then that only reflects badly on him.
The reality with any job opening is that the second choice may end up with the gig. That doesn't diminish the opportunity however. If you genuinely see the job as a chance to progress why the hell would you rule yourself out just because you think you're not top of a supposed short list?

| Well as some have said before I'm extremely eager to hear who will be coaching us next year and keen for them to be confirmed asap so that they can start spending their postal order for 1 shilling and sixpence on quality recruits.
But personally I haven't a single criticism of how the club are handling it so far. Theres little else they can do other than follow the process to its conclusion.
