The one positive to come out of the Leon Pryce story is that we at least managed to get him sat down with Marc Green. ...'"
Maybe the two are linked?
[iLeon, I hear you have a younger brother, what's his phone number?[/i
I wouldn't be against Karl re-joining to be honest. But then I did always hold a candle for him many moons ago.

| One thing that's bugging me is people banging on about not preparing for next season. I would imagine that the club are but they can't sign terms now as al superleague contracts will be null and void if relegated.
The club can't announce any new signings either because they don't know for definite what league they'll be in.
I get the feeling from the things being said that they are planning just that and it wouldn't surprise me if a large number of signings are then announced once we are mathematical down

| Am I missing something with today's Leon Pryce article....we could have paid Leon whatever salary he wanted, and under the home grown exemptions only £40k of his salary would have been on the cap. So why is relegation such a deal breaker? Does he still have ambitions of getting an international call up? Or is it trophies he wants? He already won everything the british game had to offer when he was here last time though, so....it's a strange one for me.

I thought Leon would be a good signing for us [ibecause[/i we were heading to the Championship, not despite it like Pryce says. Fair play to him if he can do it at Hull FC though, I just worry it may end in disappointment like Carvell's move there.
As for ourselves, to be honest I'd be really annoyed if we did take the approach you outlined - "we could have paid Leon whatever salary he wanted" - after everything I'd be shocked if we weren't using the dreaded c words, "cut" and "cloth"!

I think its simply a case of a player wanting to play at the highest level available to him week in week out. If there had been no superleague club offer or we were still in superleague he'd have signed for us I'm sure, as it is he's just decided to play at the level he clearly belives hes able to (quite rightly for him IMHO). I'd have loved Leon back but if he can play on in super league then fair play.
It also sounds positive that Marc Green has said the club will look to "invest strongly" in the playing staff if we go down, we'll have to wait and see who we attract/who we let go/who we retain once relegation is confirmed. Clearly though talks are going on regarding next season, its just we've not heard about them, but we have heard about this one beacuse its Leon.

Haha! That's not quite what I meant, I was assuming Leon wouldn't take the p*ss when it came to salary requests. But if Marc Green is willing to throw six figures at a court hearing, that's basically Leon's salary right there gone in a sniff.

didnt he say similar when took over about bringing reinforcements in to try and stay in SL. Since then we've seen Fakir and a raft of loan players who go back to their parent clubs as soon as they get match fit. Meanwhile Green hides behind comments about players not wanting to sign for a club in a relegation position, despite Salford and wakefield both managing to bring players in whilst in same situation.
Green made a comment when he too over that he wasnt a talker and we should judge him on his actions. So far pretty much all he's done is talk. Hopefully we do have players lined up but not announced until relegation is confirmed, but until we atart announcing players I'm still nervous about Greens long term plans.

You can't really compare us to Salford. I don't think Wakefield have made any permanent signings recently.
I don't think people realise how hard it is for us to buy players. The liklihood of clubs letting players go half way through a season are slim, especially props. We can't afford transfer fees. If you were a player, why would you join the Bulls? Almost certainly nailed on for relegation. As a player you would wait to see what offers you had. Not jump straight in with team that's getting battered by 50 points every week.
Think we need to wait til the off-season to see what sort of investment he's put in.

| Whilst we are in this walking dead limbo of not officially being relegated, how can we possibly recruit? I presume all we can do is make conditional offers to our hypothetical SL2 squad. In which case, they’d be well within their rights to go for a firm offer elsewhere.

| You'll need your Bradford Bulls knotted hankies for next year, your magic weekend has moved to sunny Blackpool
How many fans do you think you'll take there?

| Exactly. There was a time when we could have signed players, but we didn't, and as our results have progressively slid down the pan and the nails started to be hammered into our coffin, possibilities rapidly began to recede into the distance, until the moment passed. You could argue about when that was but the fact is it did, and the exact official date is purely academic.

Hard to say. Bulls usually attend magic weekend in decent numbers.
