| Embarrassing. Brian Smith completely outcoached Lowes. Tim Smith didn't get tackled once! No pressure at all. Defence was pathetic and Jimmys stubbornness of picking favourites every week has embarrased and humiliated the fans who were the only positive today. Adam O'Brien is crocked and is offering very little threat. But let's keep hammering the poor kid or 80 minutes!
So so angry after today!

| Hopefully the deluded "in Lowes we trust" brigade will finally realise what the less blinkered among us saw right from the word go, he's just not up to the job.
My heart sank when he was announced as head coach because his track record is crap. As a player, wonderful. As a coach, woeful.
He is Mr Green's biggest mistake; let's hope he remedies it.

| Today started badly when I went to the bulls ticket office from Manchester at about 1.15-1.30 to pick up my tickets to be told they've aleready gone to wakey no problem my fault for not coming early. Went to wakey to pick them up only to be told they've not arrived check back about 2.30-2.45 ok fine ight have beaten the coach , 5mins to kcikoff I checked again still none so had to ring the bulls to see where they where (I will ring my surperviserwho took them and ring you back) 2 to kick off I get a call to say she isnt answering and I will just have to pay again and try and claim it back FFS I'm now out £66 plus £60 for tickets I've not got.
Then to get in and watch that total shower get turned over, the first half was diabolical waket whereby brilliant but we where woeful no defensive structure no spread from their ptbs and we had just kicked off, they looked knackered by half time it was to late, needs a drastic change otherwise we will see the se agaiant Salford, if gaskell is out we are done for,and why include seijka he hasn't played for ages and addy looks settled with gaskell, blythe recently is no use nor ornament, crossley seems no better than samir who has been left in the cold, we have a huge squad which we don't use we could have saved the wage for something else but no, if we don't go up and fail with a whimper Jimmy needs to go, all the big games we have had the bottle hasn't been there, alright saying we have a squad full of sl players but they aren't playing like sl players lauaki was our main go forward , our wingers didn't getbroight into the game not sure if caro actually touched the ball.
The worst team in sl turned us over very easily and that has me worried very worried we now need to beat another sl team plus Leigh and Halifax and on that performance I dontthink that's feasible

| Gaskell let you down today. I hope he is OK as he is fantastic in attack but he was massively at fault for the 1st two tries before going off injured. Really set the tone at the start of the match and got Wakefield on a roll that didn't end until the match was effectively over. Although Siejka was no better when he came on. Gaps between Gaskell/Siejka and Purtell were exploited all game. I hope Rowley was taking notes!

| I said way before these 8s started that nobody would switch places and I still believe that. The pace of the championship is too slow, you can't just flick a switch and immediately start playing at SL pace.
Having said that, I think Lee Gaskell must have broken several mirrors in Wakefield at some point, because the last two times he's played there he's only lasted a few minutes before picking up serious injuries.
What is even more disappointing than today's result is the fact that Lee will most likely miss the rest of the 8s, which means our season will probably fade out with a whimper.

| The 1st half tactics were a shambles. Lost count of how many times we kicked on the 4th and every time it was right down the full backs throat. We were down by 3 or 4 scores and we were still doing the same thing. Clueless tactics from Lowes.

| As I feared rather than as I hoped. The bottom line is that instead of coming out like kings of the world and imposing ourselves on the opposition, we looked frightened to death. Whether it is Lowes' fault, or the players just had a huge inferiority complex, or a mix of both, i don't know, but in that first quarter we were literally shoiting our pants, headless chickens, bad choices, poor positioning, basically not doing any of the things we have been good at.
We didn't believe we were as good as them and it showed. Nobody was on the field to shake them up and lead from the front. Anything that happened after that first 15 minutes was to me irrelevant, as we had lost the game. You can't tell anything from the last three quarters of the debacle.
Wakey in contrast did look as if they had an arrogance about them, and came out with confidence. Maybe this could have been dented but instead we just encouraged it and the net result was the disaster we saw.
Gaskell goig off was not a factor as a comeback was already highly improbable, but he was not to blame for any of the tries, and indeed got crocked being the only man attempting to prevent a score, on our line. The pack was largely to blame, as they got monstered in that opening, and we literally never saw the ball, and never stopped anything Wakey did.
I reckon that is our playoffs finished, If we had ambitions to go up then we had to beat some SL teams and Wakey were the obvious scalp to target. Instead we shipped another half century. And no doubt lost Gaskell for the remainder too, if initial reports of coughing up blood and being rushed to hospital are accurate.
Shame really, because we did not see the real bulls today, and we are pretty unrecognizeable from the shower that trotted out today when we play with belief and confidence. The key is belief and confidence. How you instil it, I wouldn't know, it is part of the coach's job, but if in their heads the players are convinced the opposition is much better than them, then you are gonna lose.
It wasn't so much that we got beaten by a SL team - Wakey were correctly favourites, and have the financial advantage etc yadda yadda. It was how far away from being at the standard Wakey are we made ourselves look. We looked literally nowhere near, and so let ourselves down very badly.

Purtell has defended that poorly all season. Some on here still rate him though for some reason.

| I think that was a useful exercise as it demonstrated how poor we are compared to the worst of the SL teams. I didn't expect any Championship team to have an easy ride but that was shockingly bad and I'm not easily shocked. Wakey looked to be on fire in the first half and seemed to be almost faultless. With a bit more care the margin would have been wider.

| Just got back. That first ten, fifteen minutes or so was hard to watch. We were out enthused by Wakefield's pack, and after Gaskell went off we just fell to bits. We began defending like turnstiles, leaving gaps everywhere and falling off tackles. Going forward, we lacked game management, and our kicking game was terrible. Who was it that didn't find touch on the penalty? Unforgiveable.
Second half we looked ok until that lengthy injury delay. It allowed Wakefield to regroup, calm themselves down and they looked much better than us after that. Two of their tries came directly of Mullally just bumping our would-be tackler off the ball to break the line. As for Tim Smith, the guy could've played with a dinner suit on, such was his freedom and lack of pressure. Was he even tackled, all game? Just not good enough defensively.

| Quote ="Frank Whitcombe"Why wouldn't you play your absolute best 17 today, that should not include Seijka we can all see that? This was THE game to win in the qualifiers and its a perfect example of why Lowes will never be a top coach - his stubborn streak that served him so well as a player has cost us this game, but he has to try and prove that he's seen something in a useless scrum half we've all missed.
Jokes on us clearly....'"
Just curious. Who's this strongest 17 loses should have put out? Henry and mendeika/shaw are only obvious omissions I can see.

| Thought we were struggling with speed of ruck anyway but when Gaskell went off we really struggled to regroup. First 30 mins were a disaster. We regrouped a bit after that and pretty much matched wakes for remainder of match.
Key now is when players that were missing return. Mullaney and Nielsen should be ok for next week but Gaskell is big worry.

| Players who we thought were decent players were made to look like mediocre championship players. We had a problem when a tubby Lee Smith started to look head and shoulders above ours. Most of their players who I previously thought were average looked really enthusiastic.
They could have warned us they were going to try really hard today!
Ferres must have nightmares about assembling a 32 man squad with only one decent halfback.
If Jimmy ever says how good Addey is at SH again we can now all point to Super Leagues worst teams half backs and how they had a party out their today. Did they need a shower after the game?
We all thought Sidlow and Clough have been good all year. They were bossed all over the pitch by SL’s worst pack.
I went today expecting us to beat them with pace. They ran through us and around us.
I came away feeling a little nauseous as it is clear that we have been fed too many “bigging up” statements from Jimmy and Steve about "just a poor day at the office" when we have been lucky to beat middle of the table championship teams and we have allowed ourselves to be blinkered to all of those very poor performances because we were constantly told we are a SL team playing in this league. Just wait till the business end and then we will see. Yeh, Right!
We got into the habit of saying every week “they will lift their game and make it a difficult game – it could be a banana skin against teams - that had no chance of a top 4 finish for god’s sake”. We accepted that as the reason for poor performances - other teams really wanted to beat us! – all season. Today a very poor SL team also lifted their game surprisingly and completely humiliated us.
I am not going to crucify Jimmy here but he has to prove himself very quickly in the next 5 games if the club can justify asking top SL prices again next season. He is on the verge of losing all credibility with fans who loved him as a player.
We may still win 4 more games or even win the £1m game but I am struggling to see us beating more than Fax now which will see us finish 6th.
I think Jimmy should be given his second year but I am bitterly disappointed in our woeful defence with Karl at the club and a seemingly lack of ability to get a team up for a game the way Wakey were today.
I will put these questions to everyone now:
Would you swap the two coaches from today’s match if you could?
Have you – like myself, re-evaluated the quality of many of our players out there today and may not look at them in as high a standard as we thought they were?
Assuming we stay down, will you now be unhappy to pay for a very expensive ST and rather choose your games wisely next year against all those teams who will lift their game and be a possible banana skin?
If the answer is yes to all three, Mr Green and Ferres have a big problem on their hands.
Time for a pint now. No, Time for a few pints and dream of Thrashing Salford, Widnes, Hull KR and Leigh and making this post completely pointless.

Agree here. His job was to get us up at first time of asking and all signs point towards him failing (barring a miracle). I've questioned some tactics and squad selection but given it mainly a pass as "we might come good in the 8s" - well today we didn't. If we stay in the Championship, nothing this season or elsewhere in his coaching career says to me he can get us up next year. Lowes has 5 games to save his job IMO.
