| Probably the best tackling technique out of anyone in our entire squad. Keep him.

I agree, and added a bit for clarity on what I think.

| Yes. Surely we should be keeping him, if only as a squad player. We must be something like 4 or 5 players short of a full squad, it would be stupid to let any of the present squad go (with the exception of Diskin), we should be adding to the squad.
We have let too many young homebred players go who come back to bite us. Whats the point in nurturing young players then letting them go, we might as well be a feeder club.

If you pay me £500 in used notes in a brown envelope i can definitely get you accepted into the club and then you'll be an insider. And extra pony and you're promoted to the Clique.

Surely if that was the case he wouldn't be spending so much time at Dewsbury '"
Perhaps if he hadn't suffered three consecutive ruptured cruciate ligaments he might not be gaining confidence and fitness elsewhere. He's only 21 and when we signed him, it was in the face of stiff competition from sveral major clubs. At his age, and given the obvious grit and determination to even be playing at all after those setbacks, I would be very happy to give him time to regain his full fitness, unless the medicos opined that he never will.
Quote: roger daly "his lack of size means he doesn't do anything to get excited about '"
As said, he's only 21, and at 5'11" and 14 stone he's hardly a midget either.
Quote: roger daly "Think it's time we looked at a better class of player not just average squad members'"
He has showed outstanding promise which may or may not be fullfilled given his terrible run of serious injuries but when we signed him at about 17 he was in the very top echelon of signings and to dismiss him as "average" is, with respect, not logical. Whatever his future holds, he's never been that.

| Yes. Give him another 2 or 3 years. Gets through a lot of tackles.

| He's a decent squad player. Should improve. He's had little game time after all. Worth another deal unless we can get anyone much better.

| FA if Donaldson gets a new contract I hope he makes my opinion of him,at this moment in time, look stupid
I also hope the same where Addy is concerned,I am not his biggest fan either
Addy played 6 on Friday in a must win game for us and we won,so I suppose he did his job
I hope I turn out to be wrong on both of them

Its less Cliquey on here than at any point since I joined in 2001. This is in no small part to my tireless moderating, judicious use of Personal Messages and winning smile.
When I look back to when AF did it. Christ he was one serious cretin. Then Bullseye - well he's a buffoon obviously. And as for the retardedly named 'bullpower' well frankly he's just a gimp.
No, I've worked hard to win peoples respect and if like me you treat people with common courtesy you'll thrive.

Northernrelic states he shows good effort and defence, surely that should be a given if you want to be a super league player(yes I know in some games this season not all of our players shown that,Leeds at home especially)
It's the lack of anything with ball in hand that I'm on about, and you can't say he always takes it in,yes he does but his lack of size means he doesn't do anything to get excited about
Think it's time we looked at a better class of player not just average squad members'"
3 of our players are in the top 3 for missed tackles. All play in the back-row so we need to find a back-rower that can actually tackle. Donaldson fits that bill. He is 21, he has already showed some decent solid performances. He has had two serous knee injuries which a lot of players wouldn't have come back, is it any wonder he hasn't set the world alight? Jamie Peacock didn't even make his debut for us until he us 22 IIRC.
Quote: roger daly "I am on the fence. I don't like him as a player personally but I do respect the fact that he can defend. He just has no go forward and we desperately need players that have that go forward or else we will continue to be battered by other packs.'"
Go forward isn't our problem, it's defending, particularly in the back row as mentioned above. I don't think his go forward is as bad as some make out, he runs hard on to the ball, has decent foot work for a forward and makes good yards.
It would be ridiculous to get rid of him, who are we going to replace him with? We can't go out and get a Steve Menzies, Cory Paterson type player. We have to nurture our own. I would rather than Donaldson who is only going to improve. I still think we will see him in an England shirt one day.

I think the jury's still out on both Donno and Addy although I think Addy has been a big asset this year. My concern is who a club like ours could sign to replace them, if as a number have suggested (me included), Walker is also struggling. I just can't see the club signing 2 or 3 better quality second rows who are going to be available, or would come to us. Our best hope is to let the second row stay as it is and sign another Sidlow type player or two in the props, and if poss keep Blythe. That looks the best we can hope for.

| So we have the majority saying yes give Donsldson another contract, interesting to see some views, from him been a good tackler(don't think any doubt there) his potential not realised yet, probably down to injuries(obviously not his fault),he's a good squad member and we need to keep our young ones and not let other clubs get the benefit as they progress over the years
I'm happy to go with the majority
