| I'd have to agree with those who say it's an incomparable situation.
McDermott took over a Leeds side who are still very much near the top of their game. If anything, you could argue that Leeds have under performed since he took over.
Potter on the other hand has the unenviable task of rebuilding a SL team almost from the ground up with scant resources and an apathetic fan-base who demand success but can't/won't accept the limitations the team are under.

Could you indeed? Go on then.
My arguments are quite simple.....
Ageing team, massive apathy from the fans, first BIG job, hard task to follow in McLennan, no great expectations at the start of the season.
Result - one Wembley appearance and a GF appearance, arguably against the odds. Underperformed? Hmmmmm.

| McDermott's got a vastly superior squad at his disposal and is at a wealthy club.
Unlike Potter in both regards.

| McDermott had an already massively established team to play with, potter started out by scratch and had to dispose of unwanted players ie worrincey, sheriffe etc
U cannot compare the two coaches, If potter had the amenities available to him that McDermott has at Leeds we would have been grand final winners.
I think potter will come good I have faith in his ability to turn the current situation around

Not more superior or wealthy than Warrington however.

Would we now? Nothing like presenting opinion as fact eh?
However, a fact. Potter could not win the GF with a Saints side who were a better team than Leeds of 2011 are. Against inferior competition than he would have faced this year.

Meh, but Leeds are a lot nearer to Wire than us in terms of quality players and cash. McDermott showed how good he was with a poor side with no money during his time at Quins.
Have you got Potter in your sights now? Do you think we should've recruited McDermott instead?
I think Potter deserves a chance to turn the club around. He inherited a mess. That's not to say some of his decisions aren't questionable such as not making Menzies contract a higher priority and giving new deals to Platt and Sykes then hardly playing them.

Not at all. I certainly do not have Potter in my sights whatsoever. I was happy with his appointment and I still believe he can deliver. I just think that people dismissing the achievement of Mr McDermott this season have been blinkered by the rivalry. The Leeds fans themselves were blinkered by the rivalry and have had to eat a great deal of humble pie IMO.
Could he have done better with us? We will never know. Could he have done better with Leeds? Highly doubtful. He has given them a right good chance of unlikely silverware this season. Exceptional performance.

| As an (almost) aside, was Potter the man who brought the likes of Gaskell, Lomax and Foster through? If so, it instills a lot of confidence for me.

| Potter has taken on a huge challenge with the Bulls.
I was amazed that someone of his pedigree and reputation did this, given that he might have gone to a club with greater financial clout.
Year 1 was poor and it seems that the players did not perform for him (and the supporters),
or he did not get them to play well, or they were not/lacked....select any or multiple choices of the following options here:- <Skillful/fit/motivated/determined/big/fast/strong/creative/inspirational/tackle maker/tackle buster/off loader/tactical kicker/team leader on the field/team leader off the field
I expect that Potter will address all of the problems.
Looking forward to next season.
yeah! paid for our season tickets
