As soon as it happend I made an apology straight away and one of the reasons for posting this on here (I do understand it draws unwanted attention to the club) is because after the game I normally see the people in the ground who have been listening to me, but because of the cold weather and performance out onm the field I only had the chance to offer a face to face apology to just one of the supporters for the morons actions.

I thought for a moment that "Bad Mick" had surfaced!

Never mind the idiots, keep up the good work. Hope the moron gets banned.

Quote: Mick Gledhill "Can I just take a few moments to offer my sincerest of apologies to the supporters who listened to my commentary today be it in hopsital or at the ground live, over a few foul and abusive comments that came across on my commentary today.

These comments which were aimed at the referee Phil Bentham which I won't repeat on here, came from one of the supporters who showed little faith in the Bradford side as he left 15 minutes early.

As he was walking up the steps he saw me commentating and without warning grabbed my microphone and slurred the foul and abusive comments to the many of you taking in my commentary.

I hope this incident didn't spoil your day at Odsal today and I can assure you the person will be dealt with accordingly.

Once again it was a very unfortunate incident and I can't apologise enough for this morons actions.'"

I said this yesterday Mick but once again this was out of your hands and not your fault, the people I spoke to using the system realised what had happenned so apologies have been made and nobody is blaming you at all. The problem for you mate was that you couldn't just break off and get a stewards attention but I'll make them aware of exactly what you are doing and report it to the Club, if you can remember what he looks like we will track him down. a026.gif

I'd be able to recognise him again if I saw him and I'm guessing he has a season ticket as he came from the black seats about 20 or more rows in front of me.

I think the fact that he was intoxicated didn't help his judgement and choice of words.

WTF were the "stewards" doing? The back of the stand has a thousand of them to "keep order" near the end?

...in which case he must have been sitting very close to me, since I have been put in this section this season (Great seat, by the way icon_thumb.gif )

I did notice that there seem to be a couple of people around that seemed more bothered about topping up their glasses than watching the game, judging by the constant coming and going.

I suppose this is one of the downsides of very cheap season tickets. When its so cheap to come to the matches, plus the beer is cheaper I'm led to believe, then you can get the odd numpty who abuses the situation.

To be honest it was that spontaneous I don't think the stewards should get any blame.

I know a few supporters who go and put the social drinking side of things first and the Rugby League second.

Mick lets hope leaving 15 minutes early means he will never come back! The club doesn't need that kind of supporter.

I noticed a few comments around me regarding Sykes when he went off injured, bit pathetic and totally out of order really.

It's a fine line as to if the club needs these supporters Rick, as on one hand they have bought season tickets and club merchandise, but on the other hand if there going to attend games with the aim to get absolutely paralytic drunk and shout abuse at the officials/players causing upset to supporters in there vicinity then I agree and side with you that there is no place at Odsal for such behaviour.

It is a fine line but as well all know rugby league is a family sport an I for one wouldn't bring my daughter if I knew language like that would be used. Ok people get carried away but they have to think about their actions before acting.

Keep the family atmosphere, if they want to swear & abuse they should go watch a load of overpaid muppets chase a round ball (when not falling over)!

I brought my daughter to the Catalans game last year & to be fair Bullseye managed to control himself almost until the last minute.

If you do ever go off on one though Mick you've got perfect cover now. All crimes breed copycats, and there's a stand full of people below you with emotions running high.
