They claim that Hardaker went for £100,000 so that must make Briggs a 150k player
Apart from hardacker can run backwards quicker than Briggs can run forwards.

Are you having a giraffe? The lad's quickness is one of his strong points.

Sorry pal that's simply not true. Seen him play at Leeds enough to know you are wrong. He has good qualities genuine pace isn't one of them.

That was what was reported. I had it on VERY good authority at the time that it was less than that.

| Just read the report about Briggs signing up and the way Potter is talking he rates him very highly and is going to stick him straight in at 6!
It's a great signing and looking forward to seeing him in a bulls shirt!!

And I've seen him enough over the past couple of seasons in the Championship to be able to form my own opinions, cheers.
Quickness is different to straight-line pace, which is what you might be referring to, and is a more useful attribute in central positions. Briggs may not be as fast as a winger but he's definitely quick.

| pretty predictable a leeds fan trying to put a downer on a player who they released. Dont you know they never ever let any slip through the net . Briggs failed to break through to leeds first time when danny and burrows were at their peak. wonder how he'd have gone if he was trying to break into 1st team this year?. Theres also the possibility that he's actually continued to develop since leaving leeds, another possiblity they refuse to acknowledge as they obviously have the greatest youth setup up ever.
I'm very happy with signing. always looked a handful at fev and should fit in well with a young hungry team.

| Happy with this signing plus it relieves Kearney from stand off duties and puts him where he should be.... at full back

Yeah, I must admit, I was amazed to hear it
Usually, the fans of the club a player is currently leaving also start to say things like "he's not all that anyway" and "he was always overrated". In this case, bizarrely, they haven't. The Fev fans seems to have nothing but good things to say about him, despite the fact he's just left their club. That says more to me.
Personally I always thought he looked a quality player in the Championship and said last year that the best two players in that division were Shad Royston and Kyle Briggs, so the fact we ended up signing both of them is superb to me. But we don't want to get too carried away as it is a big step up from Championship to Super League and even those who will manage it, may take a little time to get used to the different level.
Only one way to judge him properly and it's not in the next couple of months imo.

Probably a pre-season game next year with all the proceeds to Fev and maybe something extra to divi up if he makes the England team, all a bit open ended and can be stretched as far as your imagination takes you I guess. Still a good bit short of £150K though, for mine.

He was never going to make it at Leeds with Burrow and McGuire already established in the halves. As, I believe, you well know.

| I gather from my insider contact at Fev that he is very much a "confidence" player. He could take a little time to settle, but, handled correctly, should prove to be a great signing. Also he's a very good goal kicker and has a good turn of speed, which allows him to break the line on a regular basis.
Let's just hope that certain fans don't get on his back if he isn't a superstar straight away - he needs to be nurtured.

for that reason I'd give him a run out in friendlies and then rest him for the leeds and wigan games before introducing him into 1st team gradually. Couple of high pressure games like that combined with unrealistic expectations from some fans could destroy his confidence. Obviously if he slots in well in friendlies then that could change, but my initial thought is to not put him under too much pressure too soon.
