I do think Wakefield is an interesting comparison though. Was the 6 million figure the muted cost before construction started as the figure more often goes up as problems are found! And I can I imagine there would be plenty of unforeseen extra costs at a site such as Odsal!'"
It was just a figure quoted elsewhere... not sure exactly how credible it is tbh, but if correct I still think a sensible layout change and development is workable.
I've been involved in a few multi £m leisure developments over the years and it all comes down to how well you manage the contractual aspects. A design and build can be very cost efficient for instance, but any deviations or changes can add dramatic cost implications. Also long term upkeep can be more costly.
Not sure under what terms Wakefield and the council tendered the project but I'd guess it was a D&B which means any changes will have increased that initial £6m cost.

how would they be able to sell parts of the ground off to fund the improvements, given their only looking at buying the lease?. Im pretty certain Bradford council who own the freehold would be the beneficiary of any funds raised by this method and not the bulls.

Pollsters doing Excellent job - say recent polls.: |
|
| Hirst gave an interview or podcast where he said that if Bulls were to bid for the lease they’d be asking the council to allow the club to do more with the site, which I assumed meant pushing noise curfews back and additional licensing etc

| Council didn’t receive the funds when the bulls sold it to the RFL so why would they get funds now? Any buyer of partial land sales would get a long lease with however many years are left, is it 100 plus? Whether this is attractive enough to anyone looking at buying is another argument

- Install a new 3G playing surface (can be hired all year round generating an income; can also be used for training and would free up need to pay/maintain Tong)
- Build a new covered terraced stand over top of existing popular terrace, install hospitality suite at top which is needed for IMG.
- Mothball Rooley Lane Terrace to reduce capacity
- Seek long term investment to refurbish Southbank Stand (maybe to include new open terrace)
As a comparison, Wakefield's new stand cost £6m and seats 2,500 plus hospitality. We would need stood capacity of 5,000 minimum.'"
Not sure where you got that figure from but Wakeys stand cost over £11million, with another £1.2million for the floodlights, 4G pitch, big screen & half the north stand terracing. And the stand still had to have cutbacks on the original plan to fit within budget. sadly you don't get much for £15million these days.

| Better to start afresh on a new site. £30m of my euros rollover winnings will see us get a nice smart Halliwell Jones type ground. The Trevor Foster Stadium has a nice ring to it.

| Throw into the mix that just about everything has gone up massively in price over the last few years.
Best we can hope for is a bit of glitter thrown over the old girl. I'm certainly not getting my hopes up for a state of the art new stand that it badly needs.

My mistake... I thought I'd remembered someone say the council had footed some of the £6m cost of the stand, but on looking I can see they invested £6m into the £12m project.

Council have given us £2m towards the build, Cas & Fev are entitled to the same amount each to make up that £6m.
