| Anybody surprised Danny McGuire has got off with a fine and no ban for punching against Hudds on Saturday, even though he couldn't submit an early guilty plea due to a previous offence
No surprise there then

| I'm more surprised at Wardle getting two matches tbh, that was a SoS incident if I ever saw one.
And now all they have done is create yet another grey area in the rulings - you only get a ban if you can throw a decent punch? Ridiculous.

| I disagree that it's ridiculous. What do you want -girlyball where a light brush of the face with a little finger is enough to walk?

| Should have been a fine and that's it. Or McGuire sent off and banned for 2 games the same as Wardle.

| Brian Mac has said McGuire had the right to defend himself,no problem with that, would that be classed as retaliation, isn't retaliation supposed to be worse than the original offence
Can't have it both ways

Quite the opposite - if there's a fight, they go to the sin bin for 10 minutes to cool off. That's it. No bans or red cards.

I actually think that this is one aspect of the game which is handled fairly consistently and I'm reasonably happy with it. On the pitch there are (or should be) 26 turbocharged testosterone-fuelled athletes, playing on max aggression. Add into the mix the occasional incendiary incident and flare-ups are inevitable. I do NOT want to see any standard rule where anyone involved in such an incident disappears for 10 minutes, that is I think fair use if the ref thinks the player has lost it for now and didn't commit a sending off offence, but won't calm down, or the game needs something like that to settle the teams and stop them taking matters into their own hands.
Other than that, or indisputable red-card offences, I much prefer the current seeming policy to keep it 13 against 13 save for exceptional cases, but equally, I think a prohibition of sending off for punching would be ludicrous, and, of course, a thugs' charter. You can't be serious?

What would you class as a fight?

You could have someone's eye out with a little finger...Seriously though, intent surely has to come into it? We've all seen players penalised for hight shots which missed only because the tacklee ducked when he saw the tackler's intent.

I agree 10 minutes off a much more sensible approach and punishment issued at the time rather than delayed to following weeks.
I did notice that McGuire has tried to avoid disciplinary by altering his name. 4 cases in two matches albeit minor is pushing it a bit though!

Very few are deliberate, they are either a grab with open hand or deflect up off the ball. It is still the tacklers responsibility however.

| understand the Ref and the lines men are up in front of the Leeds board this week too for daring to give a normal Sinfield pass as forward!
I know its wrong but i do miss the punching and aggression .. All the players are too friendly these days ..
Not a shock that danny boy wonder has got off .. this despite him being one the dirtiest players around .. was more handbags and five paces ... Missed the Wardle incident .. due to circumstances!
