Quote: Bulls4Champs2010 "Gotta admit, we do play far to flat. Hudds, Wigan and Wolves recievers get the ball and theyve got plenty of time and space to decide what theyre going to do where as ours are practically tackled as soon as theyve got the ball, if not it's the inevitable crash ball, one out the back, or standard pass on. It's not good enough.'"
I noticed that too and you wonder why!
We rarely manage to execute the simple "out the back" move because our runners are either too flat or time their run badly or the pass is poor. It's a farce watching us try that sometimes and embarrassing as they have plenty of time to get it right being full time professionals. I wonder whether all the players understand what they're doing as in defence when it's used against us it invariably leads to a try.
Other times we just take the ball up flat without any chance to hit the ball at pace and then don't get over the advantage line. It's basic stuff, for instance, look how Aizue came onto the ball yesterday. Our forwards are capable of that but all too rarely. If Burgess did it he'd be devastating being such a massive bloke.
When we had so many kicks charged down versus Wire I did wonder why the kickers didn't drop a bit deeper if they needed more time, but they carried on regardless allowing the oppositon plenty of time to put them off.
I could go on forever!
