It is indeed true a cheap quality red sauce will be displaced far too easily and will splurge out from the burger down your shirt when you take a bite. A higher quality red sauce will hold it's own.
The same applies to Brown sauce. If you put a cheaper brown sauce on a pie before or after gravy has been poured on it, it is likely to run off. A higher qaulity one will remain on the pie crust where it belongs.
