It was good to see he was playing with a smile on his face and certainly seemed to be enjoying himself.
I must admit I had been concerned that if later in the season a NRL club came knocking with a big salary he may be tempted but last night definitely was enjoying the camaraderie of the team

Dwarfs, Gnomes, Halflings/GNOME2.JPG The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.

| He seemed very sincere during his latest interview through the club website, what impressed me was his awareness of re making himself to be a role model for the young saints fans and hopefully encouraging them to take up the sport. He has made a big effort very quickly to belong to the club with the staff, players and fans and its paying dividends with his entertainment value on the big plays.

| Barba asked if he would like to go back to the NRL.
“Yeah of course. Obviously, that’s something that if the NRL allows me to, I’d love to come back," he said in reference to his 12-week ban for a second positive test to cocaine.
"I’m only 28 and if I get the chance after playing over here to be able to play back in the NRL, hopefully someone will take me.”

This is common sense.
Just like Ryan Hall who said the following " I won't lie, I'd love to come over here. It's a competition that's very attractive and the English players that we've seen come over the last few years and made quite a success of it as well like the Burgess boys so it's really attractive for English players to come out and I'm certainly interested."
Doesnt mean that when push comes to shove that they decide to go there. Alex Walmsley being the latest who was supposedly a done and dusted NRL signing according to many supposedly in the know.
Professional sports men will way up their options. All likelyhood is that Ben Barba will return to the NRL at some point. However he and his family may decide that the media scrutiny that goes with the NRL is not worth it and that at St.Helens he can make a good wedge without the paparazzi following his every move.

He looks settled in the super league environment and if his kids are settled in school, I reckon he will see out his contract. Very much feels like a Jamie Lyon scenario in wanting to get the love for the game back without all the hassle of the media pressure.

I think that might have come from Barba himself who said because of his age he would want to return to the NRL, he looks a happy chappy at the moment so we can just hope he fancies a 2019 in the UK. He's done the chasing the money scenario with all the pressure that comes with it, maybe he wants a couple of seasons to enjoy his rugby again (a la Jamie Lyon).
